I went to Glo Reading last Saturday with a party of five for a booking at 8.30pm. The place was packed when we arrived, which made for a really fabulous atmosphere. The food and service was reasonably quick considering the amount of people in and the drinks were stunning - loved the lychee mojito. The dim sum was amazing and the mains were much bigger than we thought they would be. The staff and managers seemed to work really well together which made for a great time had by all. We will definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone who is willing to try something different rather than playing safe.

Review by Don't Glo! (16 March 2009)

Glo certainly looks like the real deal from the outside, and the large square tables inside make for a different dining experience. Unfortunately however, that's about as good as it gets, or certainly got for our party of six. The white wine ordered was warm, as were the subsequent two replacement bottles. One of the dim sum starters was forgotten, the sizzling Glo platter did not have lamb on it despite advertising that it does, the waiter didn't bother to point this out, the massaman prawn curry uses the smallest variety of frozen prawns ever seen and the garlic and coriander naan never arrived. Whilst the members of staff were apologetic and the management helpful, the overall service was slow and inattentive and unfortunately, because Reading could do with places other than Italian chains, there is more chance of the naan turning up than there is of us going back.

Review by Graham (21 December 2008)

Glo is nicely furnished with good big square sociable tables for groups. The Thai-Italian mix didn't really click for me and the diversity of the menu was a bit confusing, but the starters were good and well portioned. The mains went down less well in the group, though the curries were quite popular. Worst of all was unfortunately the service. Although not busy we were sometimes left without drinks, we gave orders for desserts only to be told the kitchen staff had gone home, and to top it all our £140 deposit was not deducted from the bill until some persistence on our part. We had a good night because of the company, but I don't think we will be returning. In a competitive market place restaurants must get the basics of good service right.
