Gorgeous, gorgeous place! From the welcome at the front door by a smiling Caroline you just know that this is going to be a wonderful experience. You are seated at your table in their dining room, after all, this is England's smallest Michelin starred restaurant for a reason, and your eyes can feast on the huge number of thank you cards from happy diners interspersed with AA Rosette dining awards. Hot canapés and amuse bouches delight you while you peruse Harry's handwritten menu and Caroline will bring you the most fabulous globes brimming with the best gin and tonic’s that you have ever tasted. Each course is a scrumptious delight of perfectly prepared food. A chilled glass of Bolly delights the palate and Caroline's recommendations from their wine list perfectly complement Harry's gastronomic creations. While savouring your pudding - a delight you won't want to miss, trust me! - Harry usually comes out to say hello and see how you enjoyed the meal. Seeing the chef in the flesh is a rare occurrence at a restaurant, but it's a charm of Harry's Place that you get to meet both charming owners during your dining experience. Eventually you will float home on a wave of delightful experiences, clutching your memory of the evening, hand written by Harry, who managed to squeeze this in while creating that fabulous meal, and you will sleep peacefully, dreaming of the wonderful Harry's Place. Book it now, you won't regret it. It truly is fine dining at its best!

Review by Fred & Pauline Bonney (25 March 2009)

24th March 2009. Menu - Celeriac Soup, Smoked Scottish Portsoy salmon*, Fillet of Monk Fish, Fillet Loin of Young Roe Deer*, Prune and Armagnac Ice Cream*, Caramel Mousse Brulee* and too many cheeses for this space! *our choice - monkfish has never done a great deal for either of us, so didn't consider it long. Fred's 60th birthday so a special celebration at what appeared to be a special place. In fact it was more than special, Harry's Place is a revelation. We both agreed, probably close to the best all round meal we have ever eaten. Little to choose between Harry's and Raymond's Place at Great Milton. Flavours expoloding on the tongue, from inventive sauces using fresh herbs and fruits in abundance. Thank you Harry, and Caroline for an enjoyable evening, and after dinner chat. Sorry if repeated the superlatives too much, but the wine was excellent too.

A fabulous dining experience. The food, atmosphere and service cannot be faulted and it was a pleasure to meet Harry at the end of a most enjoyable evening. His wife Caroline is "front-of-house" and you do really feel as if you are eating in a private home with a superb kitchen. Worth every penny and we cannot wait to go back!
