With friendly staff, excellent food, and a sensible wine list, it’s a really nice place to eat.

We visited the Highwayman for a birthday celebration and the food did not disappoint. My friend went for the Lancashire hotpot and said it was the best he'd tasted and I opted for the fish pie which was delicious. We both finished with the Lancashire curd tart with lemon creme fraiche followed by coffee and Grasmere gingerbread. Overall, we couldn't fault anything. The Manager we spoke to was very friendly and informative about the local produce and herds they owned. Given the opportunity we would definitely make a point of going back and recommending it to others.

Turned up with two friends early doors. Had a splendid meal and the service was brilliant. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Could not fault anything at all, food superb.
