King Baba is the best ever

Review by A. Ahmed (16 February 2009)

We booked a table in early January for dinner with six of our closest friends just after everyone returned from Christmas holidays. After going to King Baba several times in 2006 and early 2007 we didn't have the opportunity to return for several months. Much to our surprise the menu had lots of new dishes many of which were perfect for sharing. We ended up with two fantastic platters of delicious food that made the most of novel flavour combinations without going over the top as do so many ‘modern European’ restaurants. The food at King Baba is truly a foodie’s delight. Given we'd chosen the restaurant we were pleased that our friends raved about both the food and overall experience.

Two years ago I was dragged to King Baba opposite Millennium Balti House. I walked in with twenty-nine other students, we all took our bags of drink cans and bottles and had a nice party. Our bill with the 20% student discount was less than my usual curry house. If you buy your own drink, I suggest you go to King Baba. With the 20% discount available to students, they are the most inexpensive restaurant in town. The quality of food, the class of the restaurant, best service, nice furniture and beautiful chandeliers make this place completely different in comparison to any of the other restaurants in town. King Baba is my personal favourite and will be for a long time. For the past two years King Baba has been my second home, the difference is, I pay rent for where I live and don’t have to do so here. If you love Indian cuisine don’t miss out on this place. My personal favourite has to be the outside of the restaurant, which is my favourite colour, green.

We enjoyed another excellent meal at King Baba. Having eaten there on several occasions and availing their take-away service regularly, it’s is not just the food that makes the meal such a treat, but also the friendly and courteous staff. From the 'King' down to the table waiters, you are always assured a friendly welcome and leave vowing to return soon. The menu is clearly laid out and gives a detailed description of most of the dishes. This makes an ideal venue for your first venture into Indian cuisine. Go on and treat yourself to a meal at King Baba.

I have eaten in King Baba many times now. Living in the south of town I have many to choose from but always elect to visit that one. The food is great value, I would recommend all the chef’s specials, in particular razala chicken, Jaipuri chicken and, chicken and meat Karahi. One thing which I’m not fond of is the kushboo, it’s similar to korma or passander, but I find it too sweet for my own personal taste. The Bhajji’s are also fantastic. The staff are all very accommodating and you are welcome to bring along your own booze, which is always a plus if your out with the lads and want to save a bit of cash. I will be doing exactly that tonight. Overall, I would give it an eight on ten.

I have eaten at the classical Indian restaurant, and I feel like it has been a pleasure to be served by so much respected people. The respect given to customers at the restaurant is welcoming and very persuasive. I enjoyed a wonderful meal with a large variety available to me. They do have reservations and do permit groups to be allowed into the restaurant. The beautifully decorated restaurant is fully air conditioned. The furniture at the restaurant is wonderful and comfortable. They also have complementing lighting, which include beautiful imported chandeliers. The Restaurant is very popular especially amongst my friend and family. I had a reservation at the restaurant for my birthday for fifteen people. On the night of the party I had to add three more people. When I contacted Mr. Shahid Aslam, the owner of the restaurant he was very helpful and still was successful in meeting all of my needs. They also offered me 20% discount as I was a student with a valid id at Warwick University. The drinks they offered me for my birthday were free and they also joined in the celebration once again making me feel comfortable. The Restaurant is very popular for its delicious food and service. The food is always delivered warm and never allowed to get cold. I am now a regular customer at the restaurant and I take much pleasure in saying so. The service that I was provided with was great and I feel welcome to go with many friends again and again. The King Baba is truly the King of Indian cuisine!
