After a long day visiting Blenheim Palace, we stopped at the Langton with two tired and very hungry teenagers. All we wanted was a hot meal and a cold drink before continuing on to Wales. What a culinary experience! We decided to try their very reasonably priced ‘fixed price’ menu and were very pleasantly surprised by their generous servings. My husband had the soup of the day and the pork and chorizo burger, which he pronounced as delicious. My 16 year old son had the classic burger, which he said was probably the best burger I have ever tasted, while our 14 year old had the thyme and lemon encrusted chicken with a rocket and cherry tomato salad, which he made short work of - very unusual indeed. I opted for the goats’ cheese, asparagus and walnut risotto for main course, which arrived with a drizzle of walnut oil and was absolutely divine. We paid around £55 including drinks, which we felt was very reasonable for the quality of food and the impeccable service. We will definitely plan to return there soon.

We regularly dine at the Langton and absolutely love the place. The service is friendly, the food just wonderful and a great atmosphere. We are the owners of Hilden Lodge, which is a Guest House just a few hundred yards up the A40 from the Langton. We send about ten to twenty people a week to the Langton and everyone comes back with praise. Well done and we look forward to our Christmas dinner on Christmas day at the Langton.

We visited the Langton for the first time in a long while today. Initially we were frequent visitors in the carvery days then paid a visit just following its refurbishment. Post refurb we felt it was rather ostentatious and trying a little too hard.
However, the ambiance today was spot on and we very much enjoyed it. They have some nicely situated tables although one or two require some juggling to get into as they are jammed in amongst the other furniture.
So once we had situated ourselves at a table that we could get our legs under and that was not directly under one of the speakers issuing a rather too loud a report of the music on offer we settled in.
The service was a little abrasive at first, not rude just not in keeping with the image portrayed by the ambiance and flavour of the new setting.
Things warmed quickly as our table hostess introduced herself. Her manner, politeness and prompt and attentive service was very welcome and expertly performed with not the slightest air of syrupy niceness.
The menu was broad and pleased me with a wide range of imaginative, though not disconcerting, seafood selections. The grill, bakes and salad menu were refreshing and interesting. I would have liked to have seen some more of the dishes offered with the same beautiful honey roast vegetables that were offered as a side order. The duck with mashed potato was a little disappointing to my partner, who felt the dish a little lacking, and felt that it would have been more enjoyable with other than the mashed potato accompaniment. The duck though was prepared to perfection. A perfectly done piece with not the slightest fat or trace of grease and yet lightly crisped. Beautiful.
The prices were I felt reasonable, some dishes obviously warranted the elevated price like the fillet steak (£17) of which I partook, which simply melted in the mouth. Other dishes however I felt had their prices elevated to be "in keeping" such as a simple burger at £10.
All in all I was pleased with the dining experience and left feeling satisfied. However I felt that the quality of the food enabled me to discount some rather irritating niggles. If these were addressed than the dining experience would have gone from most enjoyable to simply divine. The food, ambiance, decor are all fabulous. The music volume, offish bar waitress, few jammed in tables somewhat detracted from the pleasure.
These however are simply rectified issues and are well worth putting up with to sample the fabulous, fabulous food.

For my wife’s birthday we spent the weekend in Cheltenham. The intention was to eat at The Langton and then go to some of the bars in Cheltenham. We loved the food and atmosphere so much we didn't go any further. The food was excellent along with the service and the whole experience was first class. We look forward to our next venture in to Cheltenham and of course The Langton. Thank you - see you soon.

What a joy to have this excellent eatery on my door step. Eat here very regularly and it never disappoints - I recommend the chocolate pudding, it's heaven on a plate.

The Langton! What a cool place it is now, the different themed rooms, the relaxed atmosphere, the freshly prepared menu (the pizzas are to die for!) and the really lovely (and quite gorgeous) service staff combine to create something rather special. The perfect place to go with friends.

I booked this restaurant on the strength of the review I had read on this website and I wasn't disappointed.
We travelled to Cheltenham for the Gold Cup races. We got to the The Langton an hour early for breakfast, and while they were still getting the place ready, they were very happy to give us coffee and tea. We didn't have to wait long before a lovely English breakfast was brought out to us. The service was very friendly and efficient and the surroundings were comfortable and airy.
We travelled back that night to the restaurant for dinner. We were stuck in traffic coming out of the race-course and were slightly late but that didn't faze the staff at all. It was a freezing day so it was a welcome relief to step into the warmth of The Langton again.
The fire was lighting and it had an excellent ambience. The dinner again was very good with a choice of very affordable meals, including pizza, steak, fish and a specials menu. The desserts were to die for. The waitress was very professional. She didn't hover over us but was on hand to collect our plates when we had finished.
We sat at the bar afterwards for a relaxing drink and a few Irish whiskeys to toast St Patrick.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It has been hit and miss on several occasions when I have visited other establishments, but I will be definitely returning to The Langton again when I'm next at Cheltenham.

AT LAST! A beautiful and stylish pub eatery in Cheltenham that understands the three basic qualities needed for success...
1. Beautiful Clean and Stylish Surroundings
2. Friendly and Attentive Staff
3. Freshly Prepared Food
When next in Cheltenham I would highly recommend visiting The Langton, I loved it.

Starters OK. One slice of roast beef for main @£10.95 + greasy lukewarm veg. Mushroom risotto - greasy too! Puds OK, but expensive at a fiver. Have eaten much better for far less.

Fabulous place. The staff were great, the food was lovely with loads on the menu to choose from and the price was so reasonable. The Langton is absolutely worth a reservation!!
