Lava is a great place to eat or drink, day or night. The staff are wonderful. It is my favourite bar by far in Manchester.

No matter how busy the bar can be, the members of staff are always attentive, professional and friendly. If they can help you they will, and it's the same with the food; if you want something left out of the dish, or something added they will oblige. The food is always consistent and very enjoyable, if you haven't tried their Sunday lunch, do. There is plenty to eat, and the only complaint I have is they don't supply doggie bags.

Review by Marc Lewis (24 December 2007)

This is just a small note to say how enjoyable I find eating at Lava. The atmosphere is always warm and cosy, the staff always friendly, and I always seem to end my evening sitting at the bar with people met during the evening, having a chat and a drink.

The wine is great and the food is always well presented and quickly delivered. The dishes served raw along with a hot volcanic rock plate are also well worthy of a note. The meat comes un-cooked along with uncooked fresh and crispy vegetables etc. You then get to sit and toss any combination of meat and vegetables onto the volcanic hot plate and cook as you go. It's fun, different and means every mouthful is as fresh as it gets. I like food with ceremony and this suits my style of eating down to a T.

All in all, a real homely place to eat and has free wi-fi. You could sit around all afternoon with a cup of coffee surrounded by friendly staff and customers whilst you work. I love it.
