I have eaten at Loch Fyne on many occasions, and have always been delighted by the fabulous food and friendly service. I am very particular about where I sit and the staff have always accommodated my wishes, the review below does not resemble the restaurant I have had many wonderful meals at. The shellfish platter is to die for, one of my very favourite restaurants.

I think the restaurant was very nice. The food was fresh and delicious, and the members of staff were very friendly as well. I totally disagree with the previous reviewer.

My husband and I went there with our three year old son on a Saturday and were immediately seated at table 8, the worst one in the restaurant, and told we'd have to be out before 8pm. The service was haphazard, too many men in their mid 20's who all wanted to be in charge. The kitchen staff were fighting amongst themselves to the point where the head chef actually came out to have a word. The restaurant was half empty and I've never seen so many staff do so little, yet be so stressed and ineffective. The food, well, the kid’s meal, sausage and mash, would have made Jamie Oliver cry. Calling the fish soup starter bland is being nice, the salmon pâté was extremely salty and the crusty bread, which accompanied it had no crustiness to it at all. When the bread was questioned and sent back to the kitchen it was promptly returned, again no crustiness in sight this time, just charcoal. The mains of smoked salmon pasta were a complete disaster - overcooked, unsalted, obviously a different chef to the pâté one, with microscopic particles of smoked salmon. The plaice was decent but the salads ordered on the side had dressing so heavy for a fish restaurant we could only laugh at this point. We made it clear that the pasta was below any acceptable standard and were promptly offered a free dessert. The wine was the highlight of the dinner at least that did what it said on the menu. To sum it up it was £43 badly spent in a canteen style environment. Having had enough bad food for one evening, we politely turned down the free dessert. The best behaviour came from our three year old who was upbeat throughout the meal. Our waiter tried his best but was badly let down by the rest of the team.
