It has consistently good and excellent food, with good quality ingredients well cooked; excellent service; and very reasonable price. I have been there many times with different friends and nobody's ever been disappointed.

I have dined at the Meeting House Restaurant on several occasions in the last few months. The food is always of a consistently high standard. The scallop starter and sea bass main course was delicious and everything was beautifully cooked and flavoursome. The menu was interesting and varied without trying to be too clever. This is a pleasant, relaxing place to enjoy a lovely meal.

This was our second visit to this restaurant and they have developed well. A small well selected wine list at reasonable prices, and a menu, which has something for everyone. My duck starter was a delight as was my wife's crab cake. I took a chance on the vegetarian option, which can be such a disappointment in so many places, but it was a real winner- very tasty. My wife's salmon was also excellent. Only one of us had a pudding and the lemon tart will be repeated many times in the future. You can tell that this establishment will go from strength to strength. Very reasonably priced and an asset to Lancaster, which is very short of quality in its restaurants.

Review by Andrew & friends (6 August 2008)

I’d heard that this place now has a new chef and owner, Adam Ventress, so I though I’d give it a try with some fellow foodies. I’m pleased I did, as the food was cracking. All fresh local produce and I really liked the fact that when you book a table, its all yours for the evening or for as long as you want it and you’re not rushed through for another sitting. I started with the crab cake, made with fresh crab meat and spiced with ginger and coriander served with rocket salad and sweet chilli dressing at £5.95 – really tasty, not over powering and the right amount of chilli dressing. For mains I had the baked fillet of salmon with herb and lemon crust served with creamed leeks and garlic fondant at £11.95 - cooked to perfection. It’s easy to get this wrong, especially with the leeks and garlic, but I totally cleaned my plate.

I was prepared to be let down by the desserts as I’ve often been in many restaurants, but I was surprised to be told they were freshly made and not something out of a box that anyone can buy at a supermarket. I had the lemon tart with crème fraîche and raspberries at £4.25 – yum. I was also impressed to hear that the chef is quite knowledgeable about food allergies, especially as I have family members who eat a gluten free diet. I feel I could bring them to this place with confidence. Great time had and we’ll definitely return.
