I took my partner there for his 40th birthday and we also stayed in the hotel. The meal was fantastic, and so was the hotel. It has a very relaxing atmosphere, not overcrowded and had plenty of spaces between tables, the waiting staff were attentive but not interfering and the food was delicious. It is my new favourite restaurant, just a shame that it's an hour and a half drive away!

Main restaurant and the brasserie both have excellent food, garden is delightful in summer, bar does great cocktails.
Review by Ruth French (11 September 2004)
For such a venerable building, the restaurant is surprisingly bright and funky, primarily pink and orange, which looks better than it sounds. Food, however, was disappointing, only one course (of six) was declared delicious, the others were marred by displeasing combinations of flavours and lack of substance. Service was distinctly average and the wine mark-up on the high side. All in all, not a great success.
