I ate at The Mustard Seed last night with some friends and I'm pleased to say that it was a pleasure to be there. We ordered four very different courses from fillet steak to red snapper and all were delicious, cooked appropriately and well presented. This consistency extended through all three courses. My only complaint would be there is very little room at some of the tables, and indeed between some of the tables. We were jammed in a window recess, which took away from what would have otherwise been a wonderful evening. That said, from a food perspective it’s worth a visit.

We visited The Mustard Seed while on holiday in Scotland. We were only in Inverness for two nights and would usually try different restaurants each day, but thankfully we went to The Mustard Seed on our first night and then could not wait to go back the second night.

The Mustard Seed is in a converted church with high ceilings and on two levels. It is overlooks the river in Inverness town centre. I'm sure that in summer tables on the balcony would be in short supply as the whole restaurant was full even on a dark, wet weekday evening in November!

There is a lively atmosphere, the lighting is warm and inviting and the food amazing and very reasonably priced. Different specials are available each day to complement the standard menu. We recommend the duck with neeps and tatties for starter – it is delicious and do make sure you have room for desert too!

The restaurant even has a loyalty card for free coffee, lunch etc. They also have cheaper early evening menus (5:30-7pm) as well as dinner from 7pm.Several awards are displayed inside the door and in the corridor upstairs they have framed thank you letters from diners. We will definitely visit again - our next trip to Scotland will be planned around dinner here!

We are just back from a weekend in the highlands and was at the Mustard Seed restaurant for lunch, well what could I say, we were treated like old friends as soon as we walked in, and things just got better from then. Food was magnificent, staff were extremely friendly and when we got the bill we thought they had made a mistake, extraordinary value for money. We are planning on a return to Inverness just to visit the Mustard Seed again.

Fantastic food, so good we are planning our next trip to the region just for dinner! Highly recommend the seafood. Enjoy!

Popular (recommend booking) new restaurant in prime location in quiet part of town centre just on the waterside. Understated decoration with youngish crowd.

Excellent food (no whinges from my fellow diners), although wine list is fairly limited and could do with an upgrade. Relaxed, friendly & unobtrusive service never left us waiting, but never left us feeling rushed. Expect to want to leave a healthy tip!
