Fantastic breakfast, the staff can be a bit slow, but the food definitely makes up for it.

It was absolutely superb and a beautiful restaurant. The waitress was very charming and knew the menu. Their monkfish with cabbage was excellent and I can't wait to go back.

Review by Emma Graham (27 November 2006)

My friend and I were in Edinburgh for the weekend and our Hotel was not too far from here so we had walked past it a couple of times and decided that we just had to eat here. The Bistro looked cosy and warm and you could even see from the outside that the place was welcoming and people were having a good time. (Tables right by the window/street).

The service that Olive Branch Bistro provided was excellent, from the moment we entered to the time we left we felt well looked after, with a casual and yet professional manner. The wine was excellent (although they were out of a few of them) and there were so many yummy things on the menu that we had trouble deciding what to order - from traditional meals, pasta options, burgers to salads there is definitely something for everyone’s taste.

If you are looking for a civilised night out, weather it be with a group of friends or a nice romantic dinner for two I would strongly recommend Olive Branch Bistro - it is definitely the place to go.

The only negative thing about the evening was the fact that our meals came straight after the previous one and there was no time to make room for the next course, sit back and enjoy the wine (we probably would have managed to get through another bottle of wine if that was the case). We did not get the feeling that they were trying to rush us at all - possibly just very efficient - this also lead to us not having any dessert cause we were too full.

Our waiter was also very helpful and went beyond his call of duty and helped us with some nightlife activities and where to go afterwards. They invited us back for brunch the next day and we would have gone too - if our train had not left so early the next day!
