This is a good place to go if you're visiting the nearby John Lewis. Excellent choice of pizzas - definitely not the stodgy sort drenched in cheese. I thoroughly recommend the 'Italian trifle' as well. All in all a great place to eat for any sort of occasion.

This is a fine family-friendly restaurant providing good food and service in pleasant surroundings. The menu choice is excellent with a wide range of prices to suit individual needs. Well worth a visit.

We ate there on a cold, wet Friday after Christmas shopping at John Lewis. The Olive Press is a nice looking restaurant situated on a main road. We chose the seared tuna starter, which had just the right tingle of chilli to warm up the dish, cooked well done as requested and delicious. I chose the lasagne as a main course; my wife went for the pan fried gnocchi, which is a vegetarian option from the varied Olive Press menu. Both dishes were tasty and beautifully cooked, we had side orders of fries and deep fried courgettes, and these were good sized portions and equally tasty. We finished with a chocolate amarone with strawberries and coffee, which were superb. It was nothing short of fantastic with good service from the friendly staff.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we really liked it - very open, spacious design with a large bar area, which is good if you are not planning on eating. The food was good and I would recommend the steak, and the service was good, not too fussy. It’s a good place for families – we visited on a Saturday evening and the place had a good atmosphere. I would visit again, good value.

Fantastic food and great service - what more can you ask for? I took my family to Olive Press for dinner and the atmosphere was great. The food tasted fresh and the children were kept entertained and made their own pizza. We had a fantastic evening and would definitely go back again.

Olive Press has a pleasant ambience but inconsistent food. It is well put together, although I do wonder about what the large screen TV in the bar area says about the aspirations of the place. The starters were a mixed bag. The garlic mushrooms were fine, but how much training as a chef does it take to make these? A crab paste in a chewy, lukewarm bread-dough ravioli was rather less successful and the asparagus in Parma ham was overwhelmed by honey flavoured dressing.
The main courses continued in a similar fashion, the seafood casserole was very good, steaks mediocre, and lamb shank near-inedible, badly presented. Although we had no complaints about the service, it was a bit galling to have nearly 4 quid each cover charge added to the bill. Maybe if we had been given some bread, this would have seemed more reasonable. So I would recommend Olive Press for the atmosphere, but the eating experience left a lot to be desired.

We had a fabulous meal on Saturday at lunchtime. We were three sisters celebrating a birthday and the whole experience was lovely - the surroundings, the service and the food and it's the first time, in my forty odd years on this planet, that I've ever been cheesy enough to insist on sending our compliments to the chef. Every single course was mouth-wateringly excellent and despite our reservations about the service, from reading an earlier review, it was, in fact, good. It's a tad on the expensive side, especially for a lunch-time, but given the quality of the food and wine, we didn't flinch too much! Well, let's see - we got there at 2pm and didn't leave till 6pm - so what does that tell you?

I booked a table for four in early December 2007. The menu is fairly straight forward with no huge choice. After being seated and given the menu, it took fifteen minutes before we grabbed a waiter to take our drinks order. Immediately afterwards, three other waiters walked over to see if we required drinks. The starters took about twenty five minutes to arrive, with two other visits to see if we wanted to order food. It took twenty minutes, after our starter plates were taken before our mains arrived, but not all at once. The food when it arrived, was good, tasty and well presented.
The service is abysmal. There seems enough staff but they are not organised and trained in what to do. At the prices charged I would expect some good service.
