This has to be our favourite restaurant in Newcastle, I have been there several times now by ourselves and on many occasions taking others with us too and each and every time the food has been top notch. The waiters now know us which makes us feel very special, they remember what we like and have a great and friendly manner without being pushy. The things that come out of the kitchen are wonderful and everyone ends up being full, with an excellent factor all saying they will return. Keep going Pan Haggerty, we love what you do.

My partner took me for dinner to this delightful restaurant. I have a very restricted diet and the staff were just brilliant and my thanks to the chef who even managed to give me a choice, which is very unusual. The quality of food and wine is first class, and we certainly will return.

We first found Pan Haggerty whilst we were looking for Cafe 21. We decided to give this restaurant a try, and had a lunchtime meal. We have been regulars ever since. The food and staff were excellent and nothing is too much bother for them. My husband loves the bread and butter pudding. I'm so impressed I have booked for 34 people to celebrate my retirement. Give this restaurant a try, you will enjoy it.

I took a large party of 30 clients to the restaurant on Saturday evening and I was very impressed with the service, all the staff were helpful and pleasant throughout the evening, the quality of food and wine was first class. Craig the manager was very accommodating throughout the planning of the evening and kept a watchful eye all night. We had a vegan requirement which was well catered for and didn't seem to faze the chef. I would certainly recommend this restaurant for both an intimate evening and corporate event. P.S. I personally visited this restaurant with my partner on a lunch time and again the quality of food and service was top notch.

Well, what a surprise we all had. We had a table booked for 6 at 8.30pm on Saturday. We arrived late at 8.45pm and the restaurant was very busy, but this did not seem to be a problem for the staff. We were immediately shown to our table and our drinks order was taken without delay. We ordered rose and white wine and it was perfectly chilled and the quality was excellent. Our starters and main meal orders were taken, some of us chose from the standard menu and others from the a la carte and one of our party from the vegetarian. We can honestly say that all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and one of the party even finished off his partner’s meal as the portion was too large. Then came the dessert and only 3 of us could manage them. However they all went down a treat. During the meal the servers were very attentive and the service was excellent, we will certainly be visiting this place again.

Review by Lesley and Pippa (12 April 2009)

We ate at Pan Haggerty on a Monday evening recently, we had the á la carte menu and only one word will suffice - that is superb. The food was delicious and beautifully presented by friendly attentive staff. The portions sizes live up to the hype as they are substantial. There was certainly no need to call for a burger on the way home as is so often the case with modern restaurants. The potted prawns and the while chocolate and raspberry brûlée were particular highlights for me and the crab salad and banoffee pie were favourites of Pippa’s, the bill was probably the only smallish thing about it, we will definitely be back.

We had a fantastic lunch there for Valentine's Day. The food was excellent, based on traditional, hearty British dishes with a modern, but not too modern, style and more upmarket flair. The food was well cooked and presented. Situated in Cafe 21's former space, we were served professionally but with a friendly manner and the wine was grand too. I'll definitely be back.

We had a brilliant celebratory meal in honour of our son's 21st birthday. There were six of us and we opted for the al a carte menu. The menu was exciting and there was something to suit everyone. Every course was cooked to perfection and the presentation and service was outstanding. The woodpigeon starter was thoroughly enjoyed, as was the lamb on a bed of bubble and squeak with sage and shallot gravy. Our son ordered the apple frangipane dessert, which came adorned with a lit birthday candle - a lovely touch. It was a memorable evening. The bill was £210 including 10% service charge and drinks. We will definitely return.

Superb! My sister, brother and I took my mum for her 70th birthday lunch and everyone loved it. It’s excellent value for money at lunch time with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We will be trying the evening menu with friends for sure. Highly recommend everyone who loves good modern classic British food to try Pan Haggerty.

We went for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. If you are thinking of going please don't put it off, this is one of the best experiences I have had in any restaurant recently let alone in Newcastle. I can't believe I didn't know the place existed before. We will certainly be making a re-visit in the very near future. The restaurant is stylish, the members of staff are very efficient and the food is just amazing - go!
