Our visit to The Longridge Restaurant was excellent; the food really does have the wow factor. The Lancashire cheese fritter and pumpkin soup was really unique and the use of local, seasonal produces exceptional. I would recommend the trio of desserts for the indecisive; pure heaven. It's not an everyday type of place, but is value for money when you experience both the food and service. The restaurant now looks more contemporary and stylish, but still retains that warm, welcoming atmosphere and delicious smell of food as soon as you walk through the front door.

I dined at this restaurant on Friday evening as a birthday celebration, and it was undoubtedly the best dining experience I have had for some time. We were made to feel special, and the manager Adam and his team were so friendly and professional. Everything just seemed to be right from the moment we arrived to the time we left. The food was delicious and in particular the venison was the best I have ever tasted. The chocolate brownie is a must. The chocolate birthday plate was well received and was a nice touch to finish the meal. All in all it was a memorable night; well done.

We ate at the Longridge restaurant on Friday. After years of talking about going we finally made the effort, and were not disappointed. The members of staff were polite and friendly but unobtrusive, and the service was excellent. For starters we had home-smoked salmon with potted shrimps and black pudding with ham hock - both were marvellous. Main courses of minted rump of lamb with goat's cheese mash and roast Middle White pork were also excellent. To finish we had the famous bread and butter pudding and a peach almandine. The base of the peach dessert was a little too chilled, but it looked fabulous. Not inexpensive, but for the experience and quality of food and service, definitely recommended. Worth the effort!

This is a beautiful, homely restaurant. We had fish and chips, which were not very exciting but absolutely delicious. The batter was light and crispy; the fish was soft, succulent and cooked to perfection. Homemade chips a rare treat. The members of staff were very attentive without being obtrusive and the service quick and efficient. This place is highly recommended.

We found this restaurant by chance while driving past and what a find! - Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. It was early afternoon and the restaurant had just opened. The food was out of this world. I've dined at many restaurants and this is one of my favourites. This place is highly recommended.

We had a meal at The Longridge restaurant and the staff were fantastic, polite and knowledgeable. The highlight of the meal was the starters - I had the seared scallops with gnocchi, bacon lardons and onion puree whilst my girlfriend had crab ravioli. Both were hard to fault from a taste perspective but the portions were small. After a long wait the main courses arrived and I chose poached rump of lamb with beans, baby carrots and spring onions - the lamb was, although nicely pink, quite chewy and lacked any real flavour. My girlfriend had sea bass with langoustines - the bass was cooked nicely but that didn't change the bland taste to the dish. We did not have desserts and this meal was quite pricey.

We ate at The Longridge Restaurant last week with some friends who were visiting us from Oxford. We'd always wanted to try this place, but were waiting till someone who would appreciate it could join us, and were not disappointed. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere was relaxed. The food was amazing - chef's special starter of salad with purple potatoes, asparagus, and a deep fried egg. The beef with foie gras went down very well with the boys, and my sea bass was great. We struggled to fit in dessert, so we shared a delicious bread and butter pudding, and a strawberry salad with sponge and basil ice cream. The only let down was the espresso, but the accompanying sweets made up for it. I can't wait to go there again.

My husband and I visited the Longridge Restaurant last evening. It was my birthday earlier in the week and we had wanted to try it as the food at the Olive Press (PH'S Bolton restaurant) has been excellent on all three occasions we have been. We read the reviews before booking and most were excellent. It was a total disappointment.

My starter of gratin of lobster, citrus fruit, hand rolled macaroni and lobster bisque sounded fantastic but when it appeared it was a let down. Four or five tubes of macaroni sat on barely a couple of tablespoons of lobster bisque, which I wouldn't have even known was lobster if I hadn't seen the menu. The portion was absolutely miniscule-and for £13.50 (£8.50 + £5.supplement) a total waste of money. My husband said his starter of tortellini of scallops was okay but again, a small portion and a distinct lack of scallops.

And, now let us move on to the main course. My husband had the saddle of lamb -again the accompanying potato dish was tiny. Now to the joke of the night - my main course of honey glazed Goosnargh duck consisted of a few one inch cubes of rubbery duck dotted about a large plate with even less vegetables dotted in between. Needless to say,we didn't stay for dessert. The staff were very polite and the decor very classy if a bit gloomy, but it had all the ambience of a funeral parlour. Perhaps all the above goes to explain why there were only about twelve people in the restaurant on a Saturday night. Never again.

I watched PH on Good Food Live creating really exciting looking dishes. The restaurant itself was a bit of a disappointment, as I was driving I asked for water, the waitress sighed "I might have known it". Those "exciting dishes" were there but in miniature. For me, not worth the eighty mile round-trip.

I drove from Alderley Edge to Longridge for a special occasion – my girlfriend’s birthday. I know Paul is opening soon in our village and heard that this is his flagship restaurant.

I thought it may be a little stuffy, but hey it was a special occasion and I needed some brownie points.

The first thing besides the drive and a wet January evening was the welcome, the waiter actually walked onto the car park with an umbrella! – top marks. The restaurant was completely different to its cottage exterior – very hip black and whites – we both liked it. Champagne and canapés, particularly liked the mini “toad in the hole”.

The restaurant didn’t seem quite full, probably 30 or 40 but the atmosphere was warm and friendly.

My girlfriend’s starter, risotto of smoked haddock and curry was the best she’d ever had. I enjoyed the famous black pudding, totally different to what I expected and beautifully presented – 10 out of 10.

Jax’s fish main course of halibut, mushroom puree, vermouth sauce and steamed potato was so good she only allowed me one taste. My lamb with goat’s cheese mash was almost perfect, I’d preferred it cooked a little more but the mash was sublime.

We were both quite full but the waiter persuaded us to have a dessert between us that wasn’t on the menu – a large plate of mini desserts – it was stunning especially the bread and butter pudding. I recommend everyone has it even if it isn’t on the menu.

Three courses and a bottle of champagne – I only spend £100 quid – best meal ever and plenty of brownie points.

Can’t wait for the Alderley opening so we are going back next Sunday for lunch with my parents.
