Having read the reviews on this restaurant we decided to give it a try. There is very little more that I can say than wow! On arrival we were greeted and welcomed into one of the nicest restaurants we have visited. We sat at a lovely table in the 'garden room'. All the dishes were presented to us at the table and described in great detail by the pleasant young staff who were knowledgeable. Every dish we chose was an absolute delight; it was hot, well presented and absolutely delicious. The sweets were out of this world, we have never seen such a huge choice, I think we counted eight! The only concern was getting through the whole seven courses, but we managed it. We will not hesitate to go again. This will be our preferred restaurant.

I visited Pecks with my wife for the first time after hearing a lot about it over the years. I have never been sure that the unusual to me format of seven courses; all sitting down together was for me, so we ‘tested the waters’ with a Sunday lunchtime visit. I couldn’t fault a thing. The place is beautifully presented, I assume recently decorated. The members of staff were excellent and most importantly the food was beautiful. My wife was of the same opinion and having taken six years of living locally to try this place for the first time, we will not be waiting as long again until we return. I am certainly tempted to give the full seven courses a go next time. If you have thought about going and so far resisted like I had, give it a go, like us, you just might love it.

Four of us went to Pecks on Saturday. The friends who took us had dined there before, but we hadn’t. I can only describe it as an experience that should not be missed by anyone, starting with the warmest of greetings by restaurant manager Matt and the most attentive service from the waitresses. The food was some of the finest we have ever tasted and the sweets are to die for! The only concern I had was that the room we sat in seemed a little noisy.

We went to Pecks last night; the décor has improved, and it has that fine dining quality about it. We sat down and ordered drinks, and it took ten minutes to arrive. We felt a bit let down as we saw four waitresses standing and chatting in the reception area. The waitresses were not knowledgeable, being the end of the month they should have known the dishes by now. It also didn't feel like the good old days in times gone by, a crevette would have been called just that, but last night it was simply prawn. That lets it down a bit as that is part of the experience. The risotto was stodgy and unseasoned, and the potato rösti was dry and hard on the outside. The portions were a lot smaller than they used to be, and the puddings just didn't have that special look about them. I remember years ago the puddings were not only full of imagination, but they were created like a piece of art. The panna cotta portion was a joke; a little disc that was no more than 1.5 centimetres tall and dusted with what looked like black pepper. The house wine was very good indeed. Oh, and those lovely bread rolls have gone; now there is just sliced bread, homemade I imagine, but dry. I recommend not going when there is a large group, as the room echoes, so if you want an intimate dinner go on a quiet night. The plus side was that in the old days everything had lashings of cream in it. Now it is a bit easier on the stomach.
On the whole I would give it 5/10, in the past I’d have rated it 9/10. It is probably a nice experience if you are from Stoke and are not used to Cheshire’s many fine restaurants. I heard the head chef left; I think he took the magic with him.

Once again Pecks has blown me away with its quality and style. Recently refurbished with modern decor and tableware, the restaurant has risen to the challenge of local competition. The food remains of the highest level, my Thai style scallops were the best I have tasted for a long time and the local lamb chump was absolutely stunning. My wife says that the cod and chips were fantastic and the desserts are still wonderful. We will be back soon.

Dined in the evening on a few occasions now, and always been very impressed. The quality of the food and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere are great. Went for the first time today for lunch, it was fantastic. It is reasonably priced, good service and they have a very interesting menu. I can’t wait to return, I’m a true fan of Pecks.

I have always wondered, when reading a bad review, who these people could be. I have dined at Pecks on numerous occasions and always found the food and service above reproach. Personally when I go for a meal that I know of will be seven courses I tend to eat little before hand. I can highly recommend Pecks to anyone wishing to dine somewhere that is a little different from the usual run of the mill restaurant. I will be dining there tonight and find myself salivating at the prospect.

We visited Pecks on Wed 28th our wedding anniversary; we have been a few times before but were a little disappointed this time. The place needs some love and attention, what was bright and lively is now peeling paint and the 'performance' perfunctory. Not so much modern British cooking as old fashioned British cooking, even at 5 courses you can feel overfull never mind 7. The deserts are lovely and it’s tempting to have the two portions always offered but its overkill. I'd say more care on food presentation and content, more style less quantity required to bring it in line with what’s expected in a quality restaurant these days. Very good value for money, especially mid week when you can bring your own wine with no corkage charge, a great night our especially suitable for groups, friendly staff but as ever in UK its mainly local kids serving.

I visited Pecks last year. The ambience of the restaurant is modern and relaxed with simple and elegant decor. Pecks has one sitting and so it can be a bit of a rush to get there for eight. However you will not be disappointed. The seven courses are presented to you before you make you choice in an unfussy but attentive manner. The best way I can describe the food is 'modern British' and delicious. The sweets are to die for, and they even let you have two half portions. A trick I am sure they have learnt from the many dinner who are spoilt for choice.
Overall - relaxed, unpretentious and delicious. Well worth a visit.
