I just wanted to say thanks for a lovely evening that we had at The Picture House last night. We were there to celebrate my Mum's 60th birthday and had a fantastic time. The service was excellent. All eleven of our party were made to feel very welcome and the kids had a memorable night as did my mum! The food was out of this world and next time I am up that way, I will make sure that I try it out again. Thanks again for a special evening.

Having gone back to Ruthin to visit my mother, we decided to eat out on the Saturday night. Being a little out of touch on restaurants in the area my mother suggested the Picture House. We were impressed with the refurbishment of the building having last seen it as a mini market! It’s very tastefully done, nice seating and lighting and clean. The staff were so delightful, helpful and chatty and had a sense of humour, such a change from some restaurants we have visited. There was a good selection of dishes using local produce and the wine was not overpriced, again makes a change. Perhaps the only downside was that we were seated next to the bar area where a group of 10 or so young men were having a drink, all were well behaved, no bad language just a little loud. On the whole a lovely evening and not overpriced. The service was excellent and very attentive.

Review by An Englishman in Wales (11 August 2008)

My wife and I ate there on a warm spring evening in May 2008. I can't remember what we ate but we both enjoyed the food and service. What is most striking about this restaurant is the interior and view offered from the rear. Going up the front steps and into the lobby you feel as though you are stepping into a small 1950's cinema, however, pushing through the doors into the restaurant you are greeted by a cavernous restaurant and bar. Diners are seated either side of a walkway, which takes you through to a bar on a lower level. The aspect is an all open plan space where all customers are offered a splendid view of the Denbighshire countryside. The access through the huge windowed area to the rear leads to a reasonably sized courtyard. The bar has a young and atmospheric feel to it and is obviously a meeting place for those enjoying a night in the town. All in all, The Picture House is definitely worth a visit and I look forward to going back.
