As always no matter what the occasion is I can't fault this restaurant. This is one place I can guarantee all my guests have a good time. I have come to The Plough for lunch, dinner, a wedding, business dinners, and Christmas parties and will again for another wedding and this has been in a space of two years. I would firstly like to wish them a happy 2nd birthday today and thank them for making me look like an excellent hostess and event organiser.

The Chef and the General Manager are wonderful, warm and accomodating to all my whims, and the food and service absolutely marvellous. You must at least try this place once in your lifetime. I guarantee you'll be back.

I decided to present my girlfriend's engagement ring at this restaurant. I very rarely eat out at restaurants this upmarket but then this was no ordinary occasion! Upon arrival the atmosphere seemed a bit pretentious. The food itself however, was delicious. Since we're half hearted vegetarians the complimentary cauliflower soup, four salmon dish and ravioli were superb and very filling. The chocolate dessert was ok.

Halfway into the meal I sneaked off to the bar to request if they would present the ring with champagne; this got the guests in the vicinity quite excited! The service was very professional and after sipping three quarters of the glass she noticed the ring, much to the delight of the waiters/waitresses and myself! Any pretentiousness at this point disappeared and my girlfriend was overwhelmed and much more at ease. It was a really nice gesture for the chef himself to pop open another half bottle of champagne on the house. And despite the menu's offerings, he informed us he can create new vegetarian dishes for us if we go again. As you can tell I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for special occasions. The service and food were brilliant and certainly helped make this occasion feel special.

Excellent service and the food was tremendous. I held a luncheon there in February for a number of high profile directors and we were more than happy with everything that the restaurant had to offer. I'm definitely looking forward to the next booking there.

We found the food exceptional for the price tag. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The chef came out and introduced himself to us and showed a genuine interest in who we were and what we ate. We will definitely return.

We found the venue to be pleasant, although a little sparse and too brightly lit. The staff were hospitable and welcomed us well. The food and service were okay but not fantastic. We found this place too pricey.

I had the privilege of dining at The Plough earlier this month. The warm greeting by all the staff, and the excellent standard of the five courses made for an extremely enjoyable evening.

We will most definitely be going there soon!

Six of us, two teens, one octagenarion and three middle aged went for the Christmas Day tasting menu. Complicated by two teetotallers and one no gluten, no dairy. The food was superb, five canapes, amuse bouche etc courses and three courses chosen from the menu (twice) by telephone the day before. The portions are small but with nine courses every one was replete at the end. The service let itself down a couple of times. We would go again without hesitation.

Having given our complete order twice the day before we gave it again as we sat down at 12:15, the warm ups were great and the dietary needs were looked after with very good alternatives all meal. Everyone loved the starters, duck confit, butternut and carrot soup and diver scallop. Then the first service oddity, two guests asked if there was an interesting non-alchoholic drink, two mixed tomato drinks appeared, a list of ingredients was intoned by the head waiter including plum wine.

The main courses were again very good, tender, well seasoned and served promptly. A quick cheese course and then nothing. Fourty five minutes later we were told that the desserts would be 14 minutes. Then 5 minutes later the head waiter came and took our dessert order (4th time) again. Again the desserts were perfect and we left after 4 hours at the table, great food, please get the service details right.

I booked a table for my parent’s anniversary. They were picked up on time by the restaurant and dropped off at the end of the night. From the moment they arrived the service was excellent and the food superb. They haven't stopped talking about it. We will be recommending the Plough at Wavendon to all our friends.

Review by Sue and Barry (12 October 2007)

We dined there for the second time, the first time the food was excellent however the service seemed to slow down as we progressed through the meal to almost non existent towards the end. On our second visit we thought we would take another couple who happened to be a retired chef. When we entered we were asked if we would like a drink before our meal, we ordered three spirits and one beer; it took a good ten minutes to arrive, in the end asking if our drinks would be much longer. The beer seemed very thick, the barman totally agreed but said it tasted OK but didn’t offer a replacement. As another couple were drinking we noticed they had cheese straws with their drinks, which I had to ask for, rather than being offered. We then waited a good forty minutes when I had to ask to see a menu and if someone would like to take our order. The head waiter who seemed to be under a lot of pressure even though the restaurant was only half full said he will take our order at the table. The food was first class apart from the fact I asked for potatoes with my lamb, these did not arrive I had to wait another ten minutes by that time I had almost finished the main course. The total bill came to £170 for four without a dessert, which I found excessive for that type of poor disjointed service even though the food was excellent. Sorry we wouldn’t go back in a hurry.
