We tried Quayside and were totally over the moon with the quality. The chips were crispier and lighter and the fish was equally good. I will definitely be going back without a doubt.

Last Saturday my wife and I and two friends visited the Quayside for the first time. We were on a weekend break and felt no holiday in Whitby would be complete without a fish and chip meal for which the town is so famous. There was a queue at the Magpie and we decided to drop in at the Quayside as it was so close. What an excellent decision that was! We were all unanimous in saying it was quite the best fish and chips we had ever tasted. The fish in particular was light, tasty and beautifully cooked, and the service was also very good indeed. The thing that made the evening really special was the fact that they were able to provide gluten free fish to my friend who suffers from coeliac disease. This meant that he was able to enjoy the fish without having to remove the batter for the first time since his diagnosis! I heartily recommend this restaurant to everybody. We shall undoubtedly return.

I am a firm believer that if it’s good enough for the locals then its good enough for me. We eat regularly at the Quayside and would advise everyone to try it for themselves. It is ideal for families with a varied menu. It might lack the charm of other restaurants but if you want good quality food served at a competitive price then this is the place to be.

I took my father to Whitby for a day out as he wanted to have a fish and chip lunch there. I was lured in by the fish fryer of the year blurb. It wasn't bad, but personally thought it was average, portion and quality. Our local award winning take away chippy just does it much better.

As a coeliac and requiring gluten free food I was over the moon to find I could be catered for at the Quayside without having to book a day in advance. The meal was delicious and certainly to be recommended especially to others who require a gluten free diet. I would definitely be calling again.

Overcooked fish, the waiter spent his time talking to a sour faced woman instead of attending to the job in hand, must concentrate more!

Visited Quayside because I had heard rave reviews from within the trade. Whilst other chippies exist in Whitby which are regularly talked about I could not fault this lovely fish and chip restaurant. I enjoyed the best fish and chips I had experienced for a good long while as did my wife and two children. I don't get this far on holiday regularly but if something was to bring me back it would be "The Quayside" and its top quality fish and chips. If you haven't been then a visit to Whitby without a trip to the "Quayside" would leave your holiday incomplete. Well done on a great experience. My family enjoyed the meal of a lifetime.

We went to the Quayside as one of the highlights of our honeymoon in February 2007. We were not disappointed. Fantastic food, fast, friendly service.

Have eaten at the Quayside today 28/08/06 Bank Holiday Monday. It had a shorter queue than the Magpie so thought we would give it a try. The Cod was beautiful with a light cripy batter (that seemingly only Yorkshire People know how!) Was a bit disappointed by the 'crinkle' cut chips a bit soggy and tasteless which made me wonder what they fry them in. My daughter enjoyed the child's scampi and my son was not impressed with the 'chunky chicken bites'. He prefers my home made version. On the plus side the serivce was excellent, very friendly smiley staff and a lovely cup of tea!

Our visit to Whitby Regatta was enhanced by the superb fish and chips at Quayside. Fantastic quality, ample portions, immaculate surroundings and cheerful friendly staff. What more can anybody want. A WINNER- highly recommended.
