I went on a Sunday at lunch time and had a lovely meal. The food looked wonderful, the service was excellent and everyone was happy. I'd highly recommend the Red Lion. I last went there about a year ago and to be honest I wasn't expecting much. This time service, food and ambience were all spot on.

Now that winter is upon us, I'm glad to notice that the fires are burning again in this beautiful pub and restaurant. I’m very excited about the forthcoming menu change in October - we'll be there to try it out!

A very welcome addition to the area post-refurb. Attractive and stylish interior remains cosy and welcoming, especially with the fires burning. The food has always been top notch and the service very friendly and efficient. I've entertained many times here and never been disappointed.

All winter we have been coming and sitting in the comfy chairs by the fire and drinking a few glasses of Stopbanks. The food is delicious, and what begins as a quick drink frequently ends up with us ordering dinner as well and staying for the whole evening.

Excellent! Have been several times with both friends and family. Very friendly, nicely busy, great food. Have recommended the Red Lion to many people and cannot think of anything negative to say, other than "It was disappointing that I couldn't get in at Xmas - you were fully booked".

We popped in for a spot of lunch on a Saturday. The pub was not very busy, and when entering the seating area, was told we could sit anywhere. The waiter was prompt in taking our drinks order, which duly arrived minutes later.
There was a great choice of food on the supplied menus, including delightful specials. We both opted for the specials. The food was presented very delightful and the soup ordered was hot and very tasty. The mains took a little longer, which was good as this gave time for the delightful starters to go down. Again another masterpiece of designer food layout. The chicken was plump and moist and presented well, the minute steak was cooked to perfection.
Overall the service, food, costs and atmosphere was top notch. I have recommended this pub to several friends and family. I will be returning, hopefully on Valentine’s night.

Have just visited The Red Lion for the second time, for lunch - first in a group of five, and today in a group of eight. Comfortable and roomy gastropub, with nice atmosphere, and not too bright, despite the modern interior. Good choice of food, and nicely presented, but on both occasions the service was extremely slow - a good 1/2hr before starters arrived, and a further 1/2hr until the main courses were served. They were not as hot as they should have been, and one dish was missing because it had been burned and the chef had to cook another one. This was actually deducted from the bill. My lamb rump was lovely and tender, but was not served with the peas, onions and mint jelly, nor could you taste any chorizo in the mash. I didn't pay the bill myself or I would have deducted the 10% service charge which was automatically added. We won't be returning.
