I love going to Regency as I’ve never been disappointed, the members of staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I love those scallops in garlic and sesame seed, it’s out of this world and the mussels are so fresh there are no words to describe it. I really enjoy going there and the prices are good too.

The Regency is my favourite Sunday lunchtime restaurant in Brighton. Perhaps if you book you can get a table quickly but just turning up often works or it's a, call back in thirty minutes. I'm not a white wine drinker but something icy and sharp complements the predictable but excellent Sunday roast and seven vegetable alternatives I always choose-the crab salad.

I've never been disappointed, never taken less than two hours for lunch and left feeling full up and satisfied with the world. The Regency is just pitched too close to town for a taxi and a little too far to walk and as it's always, windy the warmth that greets you as you open the door and have your glasses immediately steam up is very comforting. Oh, I once had the pan fried scallops, it was excellent and the fish and chips I see on other tables look good value for money. But please avoid Sunday lunch as I need a table too.

Review by James Blamire (3 April 2007)

My partner and I visited The Regency Restaurant for the second time on Saturday 31st March. The first time was about a year ago and we were impressed enough to return. Unfortunately our second visit was a disaster, our main courses of lobster and scallops were delivered before our first course. The mains were returned to the kitchen until our starters had been completed. Upon re-delivery of our main course we found that our meals had been left under a hot lamp and were completely ruined, the scallops had lost all flavour and the lobster was tough and dry. We did try to eat some because it was so difficult to attract a waiter during a particularly busy period. Eventually we were offered a meagre 25% off our bill (it still came to over £38). We would not return to The Regency on future visits to Brighton.

The Regency was a little out of town for a day tripper with shopping, but well worth the walk along the sea front to get to it. There is nothing bad to say about this restaurant. The service was impeccable, food delicious (all three courses), and price was far less than we would have paid in the town. Worth a visit.
