A really charming restaurant, with a deeply calming atmosphere, superb service, a wine list with something for absolutely everyone, and some of the best food you will find outside London. Take the waiter's recommendations with complete confidence; I would never have ordered a ‘crispy pea’ risotto without his encouragement, but it was one of the best things I had eaten in months.

Hubby and I ate at this restaurant back in January after looking for a good restaurant and failing in Coventry. We were thoroughly impressed by the service and quality of the food we ate. We both felt the portion sizes were just right as we finished the evening feeling comfortable but not stuffed. We feel the menu is priced to make it a treat rather than a weekly thing for us. My only little quibble was that I was cold by the end of the evening so maybe heating would be good on cold winter nights. All in all, we are looking forward to our next visit.

This is a fantastic restaurant. We're nowhere near local but we come whenever we're visiting the family and the quality has been consistently excellent. I suppose its modern British but with French, maybe even Spanish slants. The food is beautifully presented and has clear, robust and innovative flavours. Pork belly with a hazelnut sauce, for instance, was lovely. The service is brilliant. We believe it matches Michelin star standards. Go!

I had lunch there with a friend recently. Being a Saturday the place was busy and this may explain the slow but friendly service. We both ordered from the set lunch menu - £14 for two courses. The food was excellent but the portions were on the small side. I had a starter of belly pork, which was delicious, and Pollack for the main - beautiful presentation and cooked very well, just not much of it. I noticed that two courses would set you back by £29 in the evening, which seems a bit ambitious, unless the portions are a lot bigger, and even then. All in all though, a good experience and I would certainly go back.

I went to Restaurant 23 for my birthday on a Friday night. The food was superb and the service was absolutely exquisite. I will not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and will definitely be booking another table soon.

My husband and I regularly visit this wonderful little restaurant after discovering it, quite by accident, almost a year ago. We’ve never had a bad experience there. The menu is constantly changing and is full of delicious and exciting choices. The service is always excellent and I can't rate this place highly enough.

That’s one of the smaller restaurants I've eaten in - the restaurant's name could refer to the number of covers as well as its address. It shows that good things often come in small packages, though. The quality of the food is excellent - good, seasonal food, which is cooked simply but exceptionally well, showing hints of Heston Blumenthal (his attention to culinary detail that is, rather than his gimmicky side!). The venison was incredibly tender and meaty-tasting, and the blackcurrant sorbet with the lemon dessert transported me right back to my time as a seven-year-old eating fresh blackcurrants straight from my grandfather's bushes. The wine list is pleasingly adventurous too - the Austrian reserve red we had complemented the meat perfectly. The prix fixe approach to the straightforward menu is to be commended. You can tell that the people running the place have Michelin-starred experience, and a star of their own is surely not far away.

Not knowing the area or any restaurants in Leamington Spa we opted for Restaurant 23. Service a little slow but this compact restaurant certainly delivers excellent food. The venison was superb although the portion could have been larger and the desserts wonderful! Good selection of wine at reasonable cost. Will certainly return when next in the area.

I love this place. Probably my favourite restaurant in the Leamington/Warwick area. Sadly the owner is selling up (if he has not done so already), which is a shame because to me his restaurant represents everything I would want if I ever started my own restaurant; stylish environment, open-plan kitchen, superbly tasty foods, simple (sometimes limited?) food and wine choices sourcing local and assured producers wherever possible. I always feel that what is being offered here is only there because the Chef believes that I am going to enjoy it. Brilliant. Very slight word of caution about the Maitre-de...excellent attention to detail, wonderful enthusiasm, very entertaining banter...but I wonder if he might be on commission with the wine list! The pressure can be felt on occasion.
