We made a return visit to Gravetye Manor with eager anticipation, having so enjoyed our dinner there last winter and we were not disappointed! The whole dinner was wonderful, from start to finish, every course was delicious, the service was discreet, polite and cheerful, and the atmosphere was perfect too. We’ll roll on the next time!

We received first rate food, service and value for money when we had lunch there last month.

The food and surroundings were absolutely fantastic. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive and it was a perfect evening.

I booked Gravetye for my wife's birthday and was pleasantly surprised to get a table - having read the reviews in many places online, I was expecting a 'no' 4 weeks prior to that date. It was planned as a surprise for her on the day and having never visited before I was equally taken aback by the Manor and its staff as much as she was. After being welcomed in the hall, we sat down to view the menu and the amazing wine list, whilst sipping on a dry sherry. We both decided on the a la carte and carefully noted the wine recommendations for each course we ordered within the wine list. Each course was to be savoured in the beautiful old panelled dining room. The room was full, but provided a lovely atmosphere muted by the old oak panels surrounding the diners. Service was professional, attentive and knowledgeable. One of the few places the added 12.5% tip was deserved. Compliments to Mark Raffan the chef for the attention to detail in each ingredient, preparation and cooking within each dish. A definate 'destination' place for all serious foodies and wine lovers. Rooms looked pricey, but not over the top and lovely period touches throughout the hotel. Will return for more special occasions.

I first visited Gravetye on a miserable February night in 1972 - and missed the delights of the grounds and gardens. The latest visit for a business lunch was the first under the current ownership. Tried the lunchtime table-d'hote menu, which at £23 for three courses has to be one of life's great bargains. In this case a delicious starter of seafood mouse, classic coq-au-vin for mains, and cheese for afters. Beautifully presented and served. Only criticism would be regarding small (and I mean v. small!) portion sizes.

I took my other half here for a overnight treat for our 10th anniversary. I know this is a review for the Restaurant but I must say how wonderful the rooms are, with an obviously proud staff showing the other rooms they have (all individually done). It was a lovely early autumn late summer’s evening and we ordered dinner with a glass of champagne looking out over the valley on the wonderful terrace at the rear of the Manor. The meal was fantastic, every course a delight. We normally like to swap our dishes half way through, but this time both of us jealously kept our dishes guarded. The staff were excellent with great knowledge of what they sold and the recommended wines complimented perfectly. Great staff, great food, great place - go there if you can afford it.
