Obviously Hannah you are wrong, because many people I know have been to this delightful hotel and say that the food and drink is divine. Also, it is quite clear that you have not visited this hotel because I visit every week and have not received anything better than excellent service and superb atmosphere. I am pleased to say that this is a hotel, and not all the false unpleasantness should be directed at the dining and the waiting. Ultimately, I think everyone is welcome to this warm atmosphere and its pleasant warm location set into the lavish green of the Shropshire hills. No matter how disappointing some of these false visitors claim it to be, I strongly recommend Overton Grange Hotel to anyone who wishes to enjoy their spare time relaxed, and in a rich and welcoming environment.

I recently visited the restaurant at Overton Grange as I had read great reviews about it. We had high expectations from what looked like a great menu, and a nice looking restaurant. We arrived at the restaurant to be greeted by the maître d' who was very friendly and took our coats. We were then escorted through to the lounge, served drinks and given the menu to choose. There was a set menu of £42.50 per head, which looked reasonable for the standard of food. This is where the attentiveness of the staff stopped. At first it all seemed far too formal, and we felt like we were not allowed to speak above a whisper. This uncomfortable feeling continued throughout the meal, and the atmosphere was awful. We ordered two bottles of wine and not once was it served to us. In addition to this, not once were we asked if everything was okay with our meal. We finished our wine and we had to ask the waitress for another bottle, after waiting ten minutes before one walked past. A member of the party had to send back her main course as it was cold, and again, it took five minutes before we could even attract the attention of a waitress. Nearly all of the six people in our party felt their main course was lukewarm.
The food was nice and the chef was obviously trying to impress by the number of courses, and the food provided. However, the members of staff at Overton Grange are definitely letting the restaurant and the chef down. Finally I asked for the bill. After ten minutes the bill had still not arrived, and when I asked politely for it again I was told by the waitress, ‘the manager is doing it for you’, in a not so polite way. All in all I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for an evening out with atmosphere and great food. We will not be visiting Overton Grange again, and I will most certainly not be recommending it to others.

We stay here at least once a year, usually for our anniversary. The food is the best we have had anywhere, with an excellent choice and the most beautiful canapes to start. The setting of this lovely hotel is great, just outside of Ludlow town surrounded by fields.
The staff are very attentive and polite. Great wine and beverage lists. Rooms are adequate and reasonably priced, but to be honest the reason you visit this place is for the food. We will be back again in August for our next anniversary and cannot wait.
