Having seen your reviews of the Riverside, four of us celebrating a birthday were delighted to discover that the Riverside met our expectations and more. It has a delightful location overlooking a very pleasant harbour, where working boats still appear to outnumber leisure craft; well thought-out menu; comprehensive wine list at 'real world' prices; and simple, high quality dishes where the sauces complement rather than overpower the deliciously fresh ingredients. Friendly and efficient service rounded off a very pleasant occasion that we all look forward to repeating.

I recently had a fantastic lunch there on Mothers Day. Although the restaurant was fully booked, the professional staff agreed to allow us to sit outside, the weather was stunning. Although the restaurant was packed, the food and service were superb, the finest restaurant in the area without doubt.

The ambience is good, the food exceptional, the staff faultless and the views pleasant. What more is needed - well, a set lunch menu of more generosity and an indication on the restaurant's website that the seductive offerings listed as sample dishes are not for the impecunious pensioner. (Contrast the £11.99 deal, including a glass of wine, at Brasserie Blanc in Bristol)

The view is beautiful, the food stunningly delicious, the wine menu is worth dying for and the service unbeatable.
