I highly recommend Sam's - I thought the starters were imaginative and the rib eye steak was delicious - the only downside to this restaurant was they allowed a family accompanied by two children under the age of 6 into the restaurant for dinner and by 8 pm they were tired and irritable - it slightly impacted our evening.

Review by Jamako (26 January 2009)

My boyfriend and I ate at Sam’s on Saturday as their other restaurant, Seven Dials is so good. Unfortunately our experience was disappointing. The service was poor, we were left standing at the door for 5 minutes or so before anyone came to show us to our table, we waited up to 30 minutes between courses and when they finally came items had been missed out. Although the wine list was very good and reasonable priced, the food menu was not very imaginative. I opted for the fish which came drowned in the ‘broth’ so that my potatoes ended up disintegrating into a mush. All in all, it was a disappointing evening.

I have been there four times and every time the place is choc-a-block but staff are always patient and friendly - more importantly, the food is to die for and the atmosphere relaxing and enjoyable. They are my favourite Sunday lunch haunt.
