I took a party of ten to the restaurant recently, for a meal prior to a theatre show. My husband and I have been there several times before. The food was delicious and service was excellent, surroundings were classy, and everyone was absolutely impressed with San Carlo, I’m sure we'll be organising another evening there very soon. It was top-class and many thanks.

I second what Anna said below, took some friends and family there for my 30th last week and was amazed at the service and treatment we received. The restaurant was packed and it felt like we were their no.1 priority. I'm sure they made everyone feel like that. Exceptional food at a good price and it was definite value for money. We had a really lovely time.

I have been to all of the San Carlo's even its sister restaurant Signor Sassi in London and have been pleasantly surprised. Each is different and unique, the service was amazing and the food was out of this world. They gave my family and friends a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend San Carlo to anyone wanting the best dining at such an amazing cost - 5 stars!

We went to San Carlo on a Thursday night for a work do for Cadburys to say thank you for all the help we did on a project there. There were thirty of us and we all had an excellent time. The service and the food were second to none. I will almost definitely be taking my partner there for her birthday.

I had a fantastic meal there this weekend. My boyfriend took me for our anniversary, the food was exceptional and the wine complemented it perfectly. I would highly recommend anyone to go.

San Carlo in Birmingham is a really beautiful restaurant. It's located perfectly, within a 2 minute walk from the Bullring, and right next to a lovely cathedral. Whenever we eat there, we always have a lovely time. The service is excellent, the food is presented well and tastes great, and the restaurant interior is very glamorous. I love eating there - it really is the best Italian experience in Birmingham.

We too were in San Carlo on Mother’s Day and it is no surprise that you enjoyed it. It is quite simply the best , proper Italian food served by staff who are warm and friendly and in a setting that is designed to make you feel special, forget the old "celeb image" this place is renowned for, because it is a great restaurant!

My daughter took me to San Carlo for Mother's Day yesterday and I had a fantastic time. We booked a table, however we were a little late, but this wasn't a problem and we weren't made to feel guilty, or rushed, as some restaurants do.
Our order was taken only when we appeared ready to order - we weren't rushed at all. And our food came in an amazing 10 minutes. Our meals were delicious - we both had a chicken dish, which was a very large portion, and cooked to perfection. The asparagus was perfectly cooked also, which is such a rare thing.
The waiters were charming and chatty - we certainly weren't made to feel uncomfortable by them. I'm allergic to wheat and was worried that being taken to an Italian restaurant would mean there was nothing on the menu that didn't have pasta in it, however that was certainly not the case, and I would definitely recommend San Carlo to fellow coeliacs, as well as everyone else!

I have been to San Carlo several times and the food is always excellent. The waiters have always been polite and charming but this time they were strangely more interested in gaining our phone numbers than bringing our bill - I found this unwelcome. I will definitely visit San Carlo again but I’m not sure if it will be with a lady!

I booked to take my girfriend and her mum for a family meal on a Friday night, as the food is always good and the service of high quality. We were seated next to a group of almost ten men who were clearly out to celebrate a birthday in style. From early on in the meal we were subjected to song after song from the table next to us, to the point we couldn’t really have any kind of conversation. This point was made to one of the waiters attending our table. The noise continued throughout the meal and culminated in the group behind us taking it in turns with a group of men on the other side of the restaurant to chant at each other. The atmosphere, which had been noisy but not unpleasant, quickly became a little aggressive, with us as a group of three in the middle. The management and the waiters did nothing to attempt to quieten either group.
I was keen to get both my girlfriend and her mum out of the restaurant as I could quite easily see matters escalating, however despite complaining and asking to get our bill immediately, we were left in between the two groups for a further 10 minutes.
Although the restaurant had agreed not to charge for the service for the meal, the attitude of management was that we should have made our complaint clearer during the meal. I do not expect to be subjected to a football match type atmosphere at one the best restaurants in Birmingham and certainly do not expect to have to point out to management that this was not acceptable for a family group. Whilst I appreciate that big groups, out to celebrate, can become rowdy this is not what I expect of San Carlo and I’d no longer recommend it.
