I spent a fabulous Sunday afternoon at the Saxon Mill with a group of friends, our kids and our dogs, a few weeks ago. The surroundings are amazing; we walked there over the fields from Leamington Spa, and sat outside overlooking the river. Most of us just wanted soup, and chips, or a mix of things, which was absolutely fine with the staff. The food was lovely, and the service was friendly, and faultless. We had such a great day that none of us wanted to leave at the end of it. I would highly recommend the Saxon Mill.

We spent the Bank Holiday weekend in Warwick and Stratford so decided to book a table at The Saxon Mill after seeing the reviews on this website and I'm glad we did as it was a lovely evening. The setting was lovely; the historical building itself is set next to the river with a contemporary touch. On arrival we were greeted warmly by the bar staff after explaining that we were late for our booking, not from the area so it took us a little longer to find, which they were fine about. We were shown to our table and the service was quick, efficient and very friendly to my husband, me and our seven year old daughter. The food was very good. Even though they don't have a children’s menu they were happy to do a child's portion for a reasonable price. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very lively and pleasant. All in all, it was a very nice meal and if we are ever in Warwick or Stratford again we will be returning. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We were staying in the Warwick area as a meeting point for the family on the weekend to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary. We were recommended The Saxon Mill and our party of eight visited last Saturday night and the evening was fantastic. The ambience of the building and the food were fantastic, and my parents said it made their special anniversary seem extra special. The shared plates for starters were a real treat and pleased all of us, which is usually difficult but they did it. Thank you for your help to make the weekend wonderful.

We visited the Saxon Mill last Saturday evening. It had been recommended to me by my colleagues. Warwick was the obvious half way point and it sparked the memory of the recommendation. I'm so pleased it did, we had a great evening. The location was beautiful, relaxed and nicely furnished with really happy, helpful staff. The bar was a great place to wait for our friends to arrive and the restaurant had a contemporary feel without leaving you with the echo of your local swimming pool. The food was lovely, and the portions just right. I had the risotto, which was haddock on Saturday evening and it was just perfect - I'll recommend it strongly. We have decided it's a place we'd like to visit again, especially in summer when we could enjoy the location so much more.

It is over 50 years ago that we opened the Mill. I used to be the Restaurant-Manager. Our Restaurant was partly build by Polish-Churchbuilder saved from the Nazi KZ. Jimmy Byrnes was the owner, he died last year.
If ever I got the chance I shall look it up how it runs today. I wish you good luck!

This was the most fantastic location for a pub I have been to, even though from the road it does not appear so. The food was fantastic we went there three nights in a row I am only sorry to say we live too far away to visit in one day. The vegetarian meals were the best I have ever eaten, absolutely delicious. The wine list was well chosen and my husband enjoyed the real ale. I found the staff polite and attentive without being intrusive. I thoroughly recommend The Saxon Mill.

Had a wonderful meal here as part of a 40th birthday celebration. We were quite a large party but the service was good. My husband and I shared the Greek meze which was huge. We both had a main course from the specials menu, I had a lovely roasted salmon and he had a really nice steak. The location is wonderful, the place itself has such a good feel to it and the staff were all bubbly and friendly and really good Pinot Grigio too! Would definitely go again!

Myself and my husband ate at the restaurant for my birthday on 28/11/06. The starters were very poor and far too overpriced. My husband had pork terrine, apple chutney and rustic bread which he said was ok and I had ordered baked camembert + rustic bread. My starter was awful, no salad just a big pot of salty cheese with a crusty top, no salad, no colour on the plate, etc. I didn't eat it. My husband ordered the fillet steak and myself the lasagne. However, my husband’s side order of honey roasted root vegetables did not turn up and the frites (which are actually chips) were very overdone on the outside but quite raw in the middle. Whilst we waited for my husbands vegetables to arrive I put my fork into my lasagne and was horrified to find that it was freezing cold.
I sent it back and was approached by the manager who apologised and told me that the chef would "whip up another one". It was at this point that I informed the manager that I no longer wished to continue with the main meals and requested the bill. He very rudely reminded me that he was willing to replace the lasagne and again I declined and requested the bill. The bill arrived and there wasn't one offer of a goodwill gesture by slightly reducing the bill. The bill was £20.90 at that point and I had actually only eaten one piece of bread. We paid what we owed and left the restaurant and on the way out, not one member of staff spoke to us or said goodbye. I had planned to have our Office Christmas Party there in December but have today cancelled the table which I had booked for 12 people. This restaurant is well decorated but is overpriced and the food is rubbish.

I love this place! I can't believe I have only just discovered it. Service is great and food very, very good gastropub. I really love the decor and the place really works well. If we have friends staying we always take them here as the setting is stunning and you know there won't be bad experiences as they are consistently good. Would really recommend!

I enjoyed lunch here with my two friends on June 14th. We had an excellent meal in pleasant surroundings served by friendly staff.
