It has a lovely décor and superb food. It was a total surprise in amongst the fish and chips and low price drinking establishments. It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. It’s well recommended and I would visit again.

I have dined in September Brasserie several times, each time I’ve had a wonderful experience, the staff are friendly and helpful and the whole place is amazing with modern decor that is so stylish. I can not fault anything and they have live entertainment on too. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Eight of my friends and myself arrived at the September Champagne and Wine Bar on Friday 13th April, having telephoned a few days before to book a table for my friend's 50th birthday treat (and also a trip to see the Funny Girls). When we entered we were absolutely gob smacked to find this absolutely fantastic trip into a different world of fine paintings, mega-trendy furniture and decor and best of all glass stairs! We were pampered beyond our belief starting with champagne (with strawberries), a saxophonist playing bluesy-type music and the most polite and efficient staff I have ever encountered. Needless to say the food was, I have to say, the best I have had in a long time (or ever) and beautifully presented. Most of us had a three-course meal, with wine and the final bill only came to approximately £39.00 each. There were rose petals and glittery 'happy birthdays’ placed on the table and my friend was presented with a fab birthday cake with candles. I have already told most of Cumbria about my visit and will return again very soon! Thank you. You made our experience extremely special.

Don't let the slightly run down exterior of this restaurant put you off. Venture upstairs and you will enjoy excellent food that is well cooked and presented, you might even bump in to a celeb or two.

Review by Gonzo (1 January 2005)

The Riverhouse was closed for Xmas, so we booked an early table at September Brasserie, prior to moving on to a show. Upon arrival there was no welcome and we had to wait a while to be shown to a table. 1 other table was occupied, but the venue soon filled up. Once seated, the service was actually excellent. The NYE menu was from the blackboard and offered 3 choices for starter & main course. We had been informed the venue wouldn’t be doing anything special at midnight and that the night was aimed mainly at diners wishing to eat, before moving on elsewhere to see in the New Year. The seafood starter was excellent, but the requested rare fillet was actually medium with unremarkable veg. I was informed the standard non NYE table d’hote is £19.50, so when the bill arrived at £38 each for 2 courses (£4 fillet supplement) we were somewhat surprised. Without the supplement that makes for a hefty 74% NYE mark up. 2 courses, wine & 2 extra drinks at £100 even for NYE was poor value, although the food was good quality.
