I can beat Pete. We travel over a hundred miles to go to this pub as we love it so much. There is no such thing as ‘traditional black country’ food, unless you count faggots and peas, so we have to travel to find anything half decent. This place is my favourite eatery in the whole world. Good, clean food, beautifully presented but not pretentious at all. I love it.

This is a fabulous place for food. We travel 50 miles to get to this pub for its food because it's better than anything in its price range in the Manchester conurbation. Just try the liver and drool. I don't understand these problems that people identify as 'poor service'. Remember it's a pub, not a restaurant; and simply acknowledge the fact that it may take a while for the food to appear. But all of the staff are really nice and welcoming - what more do you want? This is a top place.

We travelled up from Manchester to eat at the Three Fishes and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was first class, and the food of an extremely high standard. Yes, you have to order at the bar - you usually do in pubs. We paid £60 for two people, but the food is not bar snacks, it is locally sourced and well prepared. The young serving members of staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Please do not be put off by two indifferent reviews - we have eaten there regularly, and have never been disappointed.

We travelled a long way and were disappointed with the service. Our nibbles arrived at the same time as our starters and one starter was a mix of onions and cheese described as a fondue but was not tasty. When the main course arrived I had to wait five minutes for a knife and accompaniments. I thought almost £70 for two bar snacks and a glass of wine and water each was too pricey.

My family and I drove 45 minutes to this restaurant after hearing how good it was. The food was lovely, but the service, awful. I understand you cannot book, but it would be nice to be shown a table. Though there were a lot of staff standing about, we had to order at the bar, which was a pain, especially trying to remember starters and mains for seven guests. It would have greatly improved our experience if orders were taken at the table. We also ordered wine, but then too, we were not given good service. I would not go there again.

I went there a few weeks ago and the food was great, it’s nice to go to a place where you find chicken breast cooked to perfection. It’s also good to know they source their ingredients locally and seasonally.

A wonderful place to eat. They use local suppliers and credit each one on the menu, which changes with the seasons. From a sandwich to the full works everything is meticulously prepared and presented. Their no-bookings policy has never been a problem for us as we are keen enough to have our noses pressed against the windows when they open. One of our most favourite places to eat, don't let a poorly written review put you off, it is superb.

We regularly travel over 60 miles to eat at this restaurant. Local produce used to create innovative slant to traditional dishes. Always enjoy meals, good choice of wines and beers. Excellent ambience, would highly recommend this restaurant.

This is an excellent place to eat, good local food choice at reasonable prices. We have been many times and are always made welcome. Local beers are always well kept and there is a range of specials to compliment the main menu, you are always spoilt for choice. I can highly recommend this gastro pub.
