We visited The Crown and Castle and enjoyed a delicious pub lunch. We had the best scampi and chips ever followed by yummy treacle tart. The only problem you will have here is choosing what to eat as there are so many mouth watering items on the menu. Potted shrimps, oysters, steak and kidney pie, proper ice cream sundae just to name a few. The only downside was that you cannot park on site as all parking is reserved for hotel guests but there is free, where can you find this nowadays, parking in Orford market square.

Visited the Trinity with my wife in June 2006. The MD on learning of my favourite duck dish, which was not on the menu that day, arranged to have it cooked specially for us and it was superb.

We visited the Crown & Castle in February during a winter break in Suffolk, and had the "light" lunch - which we couldn't finish! Superb food, wonderful ambience and refreshingly unpretentious staff made our visit memorable. The crayfish salad was to die for, as was everything we sampled. We were too full for pudding. We're going back for a two-night stay on our wedding anniversary. What a gem of a place!

I find Sue Moore's review astonishing, I have just come back from a two day stay at the Crown and Castle and I found the food, wine and particularly the service, excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive and the surroundings pleasant and relaxing.

I suppose we have all made the odd unlucky choice from a menu but I would definitely recommend giving it another go. The pub over the road is fine if you like to go home smelling of chips!

Probably one of the finest restaurants that I have eaten at in East Anglia; if not the whole of England.

Their steaks are superb, and clearly from an excellent butcher who hangs them until they are wonderfully tender, then they are perfectly cooked.

Care and attention to detail throughout makes this place stand out from the normal mundane crowd.

Review by Sue Moore (6 March 2005)

We went to this restaurant (our first visit) on the basis of many reviews knowing that there are very few good restaurants in the area. My husband had panoply of fish which he found to be plain, insipid and uninspiring. My starter, a mixture of salamis, could have come out of a Sainsbury's packet, and the roasted artichoke accompaniment were too hard to cut.

For the main course we chose sirloin steak which was uninspiring bland. The chips which did not appear immediately with the steak, but had to be requested were the only redeeming aspect of the course.

We travelled from Cambridge and the only thing that made the visit worthwhile was the bread rolls and treacle tart for pudding.

It was the usual pretentious faux food found in many so called upmarket eateries - we wished we had eaten at the pub over the road.

The Trinity alongside Harrisons at Kelsale are probably the best restaurants in Suffolk. Believe me I have tried them all and been sorely disappointed by most of them. The Trinity gets it right every time.

A great menu plus an interesting wine list, how they manage to get the service so good can only be put down to Ruth Watson. On our last visit we had the Sunday lunch and everything was perfect with a selection of dishes that made it very difficult to choose (they were all too good)

To top it off Ruth very kindly allowed my terrier Freddie access as he was behaving himself so well outside. Marks out of 10, a clear 8.

I have to say that I am getting tired of wasting money on average restaurants in Suffolk but the Trinity and Harrisons never disappoint.
