I have to admit that I was really looking forward to visiting this place after reading several reviews about it. However, I can only assume that we went to a completely different restaurant. Of course we didn’t, but they seemed to have got everything wrong. The menu was quite uninspirational, and neither my partner nor I were tempted to have a starter, and headed for the main course. Unfortunately on asking for my lamb pink and my partner’s to be well done; it was interesting to note that the waiter did not hesitate in setting down the plates, probably because both had been served pink. The meals were bland, the pea puree a murky green, and tasteless, which indicated the peas used were tinned as opposed to fresh, or even freshly frozen. I would have liked to comment on the desserts, however, twenty-five minutes after our main plates were cleared, and the dessert menu handed to us, our orders were still not taken, and we left.

While the décor, and the bar area were lovely, the service in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. The two waiters were given the task of serving forty covers. Interestingly, there was a restaurant manager whose only assistance to the waiters was to actually place the meals they carried out onto the diner's tables. In all honesty, by my personal standards, the ingredients were substandard for the stature, which this restaurant holds in the community.

I always look forward to visiting Twelve. We live down South and have yet to equal the experience we have at Twelve. From the moment you walk in you know it is going to be a great evening. The welcome is second to none, the food is tasty and the chefs really know and love their trade in fact I should say vocation, because the care taken is that of someone with a vocation. Whenever I hear of friends or colleagues going towards the North West, I urge them to visit Twelve even if it means driving out of their way to eat there. We did a two hundred mile round trip one night to ensure we didn't miss out! If you want enjoy great food, a wonderful welcome in a modern, comfortable restaurant then this is the one for you. I have only one thing bad to say about Twelve and that is, it isn't close to where I live. It is always the highlight of any trip up North for us.

Review by Regular Diner (21 June 2007)

Twelve is the restaurant to eat at. If you’re tired of dining out and paying for average and below meals, then I suggest you go to Twelve to be impressed. The service is exceptional, the design and atmosphere is modern and friendly and the food and wines can't be beaten. Whether you’re drinking the lowest priced wines or the more expensive they are full of taste and quality. The menu holds variety for all and the food will be cooked to perfection and presented attractively. Don’t forget to try the famous Twelve chips!
