Initially I was disappointed when we pulled into the courtyard it appeared more motel than Manor House. Looks, as they say are deceptive and once through the doors it was everything we could have wished for. As a birthday treat for my partner I had booked lunch, dinner and an overnight stay. Richard de Rivars room is wonderful. The food was out of the world and we both agreed that it would surely be impossible to improve upon it. From the butter, I can recommend the parmesan and truffle to the cheeseboard it was all divine. The service is impeccable. For dinner we had the menu surprise, an experience not to be missed. My credit card is still residing in the freezer to recover but worth every penny. Throw caution to the wind and go, you will not regret it.

Having recently dined at Manoir Aux' Quat Season, I would have every confidence in rating Winteringham Fields more highly on many counts. Where Manoir is mean-spirited with its amuse-bouche and petit fours, and comparatively bland breads and butter, Winteringham Fields really makes the effort to get these luxury basics exactly right. The wine list is much more sensibly balanced at Winteringham Fields, and I found my dessert wine much more sensitively and accurately balanced to my choice of dessert at WF also. As mentioned elsewhere, the pleasure of hearing such an enthusiastic and informed description of the cheese-board is worth the visit alone.

Recently done a bank job or won the lottery - this is The Place! It's a great experience from getting out the car and being greeted, the sumptuous surrounding, sublime food and drink, maybe a little pretentious and the service a little too overbearing for my taste but it is the best food I have ever had. We would definitely go back for a very special occasion.

We dined at Winteringham on 5th September 2006 and were very impressed. We had arrived half an hour before they opened and with no reservation, but we were still shown straight in and given a drink in the bar.
This attitude of nothing is too much trouble continued for the whole visit.
The food is excellent and the service is faultless. They have an exceptional wine list and advice was happily forthcoming from the sommelier without the condescension that can be a problem in some top-notch restaurants.
This is fully deserving of its reputation and is definitely the best place to go to for that extra special occasion or when one wants or needs to make an exceptionally good impression.
Faults? Only one possibly, maybe a little pretentious and they may take themselves a little too seriously.

I never thought it could get any better but it certainly has. I have visited WF about 5 times in the past and always had a great time. Great food, great wine and very pleasant service. It has stepped up a notch with new touches like the assorted breads with different butters, which were excellent.
The menu as always was fantastic and Robert Thompson the chef has an obvious passion for food and is probably one of the most creative chefs we have in this country. This is one of the best restaurants in the country and it far outweighs some of the Michelin starred restaurants we have in London.

This restaurant consistently amazes me. The quality of food, the ultra-attentive service and the ambience is absolutely fantastic.
Germain Schwab is one of the best chefs in the country, and it is always worth the pilgrimage to experience this restaurant.
This is not a cheap restaurant, however, after sampling the experience you will want to visit again and again.

Absolute Heaven. Nothing bad can be said about this restaurant, when you go have the Cheese, WOW. A real paradise with amazing food, ambiance along with well trained staff. Well done Germain & Annie.
