Best described as 'old faithful' and thoroughly recommended. Good food, good service, good atmosphere. It's never going to push any culinary boundaries but neither will it fall from favour. It's like going to visit your aunt and uncle who own a French restaurant and serve and feed you the good hearty stuff rather than the pretentious superficial stuff. Warm, welcoming, familiar-feeling you can order any dish with confidence. Make sure you put your complete trust in David to select a bottle of wine for you. Not really for romance, but every other need is met comfortably. Sometimes however you may be next to a large party booking with the relevant social impedance wrought by those who consider group bookings a worthwhile use of resources.

Four of us dined on Friday and it was lucky for us. It was a last minute booking and we could not have chosen better. The food, wine, and the excellent cheery service, made it well worth travelling from Bristol.

We happened upon Woods whilst strolling through Bath on a weekend break in May. We were made very welcome and the food and service were amazing. Beautiful food at a reasonable price, hard to find! The poached pear dessert was divine. It was all delicious though and we are going to return to Bath if only to come back to this restaurant!

David Price opened up the restaurant on a cold, damp Sunday afternoon (20 Jan 09) to accommodate a large 50th birthday party. By contrast, the reception we had was extremely warm, convivial and very friendly. The food was outstanding, particularly the pudding, and the wine flowed freely - a fantastic time was had by all. David and his team (many of whom were under 21) did the birthday boy proud and they coped with our celebratory and impromptu singing session with excellent grace. Thank you.

Again an excellent lunchtime meal last Sunday! We were part of a large 50th wedding celebration. There was a choice of food from a very good menu and the result for sixty odd people was that the food was served piping hot and was just A1. Full compliments to the chef and team, and all thanks to David Woods and his staff for still keeping the standards of food and service very high. We will return soon.

We enjoyed a fantastic lunchtime meal. The meal was served promptly, beautifully cooked and presented. We finished with a wonderful selection of desserts and would thoroughly endorse this outstanding restaurant.
