My girlfriend and I visited World Service and chose the three-course lunch set menu. The surroundings of the restaurant inside were an excellent contrast to the drab modern exterior, although the bar area is a little too close to the diner's lap. The cocktails ordered were of excellent quality although over priced for Nottingham; the non-alcoholic mango espuna was excellent. We were moved to the restaurant in good time and were pleased with the service. The tomato and pepper soup was tasteful however, tough fish, not fresh, marred my smoked salmon with salad and beetroot pesto. The Pollack main with risotto and butter sauce was excellent. However, our dessert - the crème brule with some kind of biscuit was appalling - the sugar was burnt, warm and the brule was of similar temperature.

My girlfriend has always praised World Service as one of the best restaurants she as been to, so I had to find out for myself. As soon as my girlfriend and I walked in, we were given a royal welcome. The food was the best, as was the service. We went back a second time, but this time it was even more special because I proposed to my girlfriend there.

It takes a lot for me to write a review on these sites and it is either a very good experience, or a very bad one that prompts me to do so. I'm afraid in this case it was very bad. I have eaten at World Service four or five times over the last two years and always been impressed, preferring WS to Harts. However, I do feel the service and the food quality have both gone downhill.
Our starters were nice, but the main course was very disappointing - my calves liver was luke warm and my boyfriend had the belly pork which was quite simply terrible. To pay £19 and be served two huge lumps of fat with a stripe of actual meat in them was shocking. I accept belly pork is fatty, but this was 90% fat.
When one of our party mentioned this on being asked how the meal was, the waiter did not react at all. Combined with a wait of at least fifteen minutes for a second bottle of wine, it was overall, a poor experience.
The surroundings are wonderful, as was the wine, but sadly, I will not be visiting again after this experience.

Fantastic! My boyfriend and I have been converted from Hart's fans to WS fans! The ambience is fantastic, the staff attentive and very knowledgeable about the food that they are serving, and the food itself was top notch. I loved every minute of our evening there, thanks guys!

I must say that World Service has gone down in my estimation over that past couple of years. It has had a reputation of superior quality cuisine. Unfortunately, this no longer appears to be the case. I had steak last time I visited. I was very disappointed. Never have I had such a tough steak in a restaurant! I think World Service can 'pull back' the reputation of being a superb restaurant that they once enjoyed, but not without carefully reviewing their menus. Come on World Service, get back to being World Class - Nottingham needs you!

I have just read Lindsay's review and have to say I agree with her comments. I ate here last year as a treat for my birthday and although the surroundings and canapes gave a lovely first impression, I felt the meal didn't live up to the hype and found the menu to be over-priced for the meals we ordered. We found it to be hit and miss, some dishes were very nice but I found some to be very bland in comparison, especially the beetroot salad, which was terrible.

Well, unfortunately, despite trying this restaurant several times it is best described as inconsistent. It is my daughter in law's favourite and we have been four times in the last year...but I am afraid that is that! Meals can be very good, but for £55 a head last time our miniscule portions, overcooked food, expensive drinks, just don't add up to good value in Nottingham. There are plenty of alternatives at this top end of the market that give great food not just great style.

The food was amazing I had the pork for main course and it was cooked to perfection. The pudding selection was too much choice but by having the selection, one between my partner and myself, I was able to taste a wide selection, which was fantastic! It is very classy and romantic atmosphere, which makes it a place to have one of those special moments out. I would recommend it to anyone who visits the city.

I ate at the World Service with several clients last night. It was the choice of my client, and what a choice it proved to be. An absolutely stunning meal from start to finish. A superb scallop starter, followed by an exquisite rack of lamb and finished with a fruit soufflé to die for. The dessert wine to accompany the soufflé was perfect and refreshingly different. The World Service will definitely be the main attraction in Nottingham from now on!

My husband and I love World Service, it is our most favourite restaurant in Nottingham. The food, wine, atmosphere and service is of the highest standard. Anyone who visits will not be disappointed!
