Room with a View
Forth View Hotel, Hawkcraig Point, Aberdour, KY3 0TZ [Map]
The family run Forth View Hotel is tucked away on Hawkcraig point, below the cliffs looking out to Edinburgh and the Islands of the Forth. Built in 1880 and known as 'Bleakhouse' by Mathew Galloway who ran the steamers to Fife from Granton and Leith, it became the Forth View in 1891 and was famous for its salt sea spa baths.
More than a century later, you still can listen to the sound of waves lapping on the shore, watch the seals playing and when the sun sets, visit the Room with a View. Expect to find succulent scallops, halibut and fresh langoustines on the menu. This is the sort of place where you could have cream of broccoli and smoked haddock soup; monkfish medallions in pancake butter; goujons of sole with a lemon and dill mayonnaise, and finish in style with the chocolate pot or homemade bread and butter pudding with vanilla ice cream.
They cater for small and large group bookings including birthdays, christenings and weddings.

Maisha Indian and Seafood Restaurant
5 College Street, St Andrews, KY16 9AA [Map]
St. Andrews is one of the most sought after places for both golfers and graduates in this wonderful country of Scotland, not altogether surprising when you consider it is reckoned to be the home of golf and also the oldest university in the nation. It's little wonder that places like Maisha Indian and Seafood Restaurant is constantly abuzz with students, golfing enthusiasts and just about anybody who loves Indian and Bangladeshi food.
The comforting crackle of rupchanda, whole white pomfret marinated with turmeric, fresh garlic and ginger, green chilli paste and then deep fried with bread crumbs, is simply hard to resist, and the tandoori and steamed version is for health conscious folks. Whilst seafood is their forte, meat dishes like lamb jalapani garnished with fresh garlic, red pepper and spring onions are likely to hold your interest.
Maisha literally translates to working with pride and the team there certainly try to live up its name by providing a setting where you are enabled to enjoy fine food and warm hospitality.
