Cafe Royal Circle Bar

This historic institution is a wonderful place in which to regain your equilibrium after having had your first glimpse of the new Scottish Parliament building. Founded as a bar and restaurant in 1817 it moved to its present premises in the heyday of Victorian building and, having survived WW2 had a narrow escape later when Woolworths sought the site.

Cafe St. Honore

Discreetly tucked away in one of the New Town's secretive little alleys, Le Café has been described as 'Edinburgh on a plate'. This gastronomic tribute to the ancient entente cordiale as applied to Scotland is entirely merited for here the best of Scottish and French cooking blend to ensure a steady stream of enthusiasts, not to say connoisseurs, beating a path to the doors of Le Café.

Centotre

It might be tempting to think that there already enough Italian restaurants in Edinburgh, but Centotre is one with a difference, invoking as it does the New York influence. Set in the grandiose surroundings of a former bank on George Street it is run by Victor Contini and his wife Carina, who have broken away from the family base of Valvona and Crolla, still run by Philip and Mary Contini.
