Knockderry House is a four star Scottish Tourist Board country house hotel set in its own grounds on the picturesque banks of Loch Long, it also holds an AA rosette for its restaurant, which was judged outstanding by Eatscotland in its last report.  The meals at lunch during the week are simple light ones, based on excellent local produce and traditional style, for example a traditional poke of peat smoked haddock and hand cut chips with a chive and lemon crème fraîche sauce or homemade chicken liver parfait with toasted ciabatta and seasoned salad.

The evening lounge menu is based on the same premise although is more substantial and has greater range including local Argyllshire beef fillet (hung for at least 3 weeks) with fondant potato braised shallots, slow roasted garlic and a rich red wine and garlic jus or corn fed, organic chicken breast with creamed leeks and thyme mash.

At the weekend they serve a set five course menu with or without specially selected wines and the choice changes every week depending on availability and season. Their wine list is regularly updated to include new wines and always offers an interesting variety - ably assisted by their supplier Inverarity Vaults, with real ales from around Scotland, including Loch Fyne Ales and Houston Breweries.
