Designed in 1914, by architects, Campbell & Hislop, 78 St. Vincent Street was the office for the Phoenix Assurance Company, affectionately referred to, in Glasgow, as the "Phoenix Building". Alla Turca - The Turkish Melody Restaurant - is an entertaining take on Turkish culture, set in the centre of Glasgow. Amber Regent

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow, it is slightly on the pricey side, though there are some good value set menus which can keep the bill down, and it is a reliable place to go. The long established name of 'Amber' is synonymous with Andy Chung who pioneered the introduction of classical Chinese Cuisine to the City of Glasgow.

Ashoka Ashton Lane

I doubt whether anybody knows how many Ashokas there are in Glasgow, not does it particularly matter, but I do have an affection for this one which featured quite regularly in my life for a time. Suffice to say that it continues to provide sustenance to formidable numbers of Glaswegians and others in a way that leaves you feeling rather as though they were expecting you, are even pleased that you came and took a genuine interest in what you thought you wanted to eat.
