An oasis of exotic flavours, Ayoush on the High Street offers diners authentic Middle Eastern, Moroccan, and North African cuisine in welcoming surroundings. Close to the River Thames and just a stone's throw from the renowned Eton College, guests can spend a relaxing evening in cosy cushioned interiors around a fire, on a canopied terrace perfect for al fresco dining or at the vibrant bar. Live belly dancing over the weekend adds to Ayoush's allure.

Offers a selection of the best flavours and ingredients from Egypt, Morocco and the Middle East, customers can choose their favourites from a range of flavourful couscous, sizzling tagines, shared mezze plates, fresh salads and delicious mains of fish, seafood, grilled meats and vegetarian options.

Cold starters include baba ganough, a classic dish of roughly chopped grilled aubergine mixed with tahina, garlic, fresh lemon juice and olive oil; or foul akhdar, green broad beans in tomato sauce with garlic, cumin, coriander and olive oil. Hot starters include samboussek, golden fried homemade pastry parcels with a range of fillings including feta cheese and parsley, minced lamb and herbs or fresh spinach and cheese. Alternatively you could opt for daoud pasha, meatballs mixed with chopped onion, parsley, garlic, coriander and cooked in tomato sauce. The special mezze selection allows guests to sample a range of dishes showcasing unique flavours from across the region.

The main course choices include Chef's specials of chicken spinach roulade served with rice; oriental roast leg of lamb served with mixed salad and rice; or the vegetarian platter with a selection of grilled vegetables in extra virgin olive oil, garlic, herbs, topped with mozzarella cheese and served with rice.

Other authentic specialities include lamb couscous with traditional Moroccan mixed herbs, raisins and steamed vegetables and chicken tagine, a classic chicken stew with the light touch of Moroccan spices, preserved lemons and green olives. A sumptuous Couscous Royal has couscous topped with tender lamb, chicken, mergueze, steamed vegetables, raisins and chickpeas.

The grill offers succulent fare of grilled marinated lamb cubes on skewers with onion, red and green peppers; grilled chicken marinated in a herb garlic sauce and classic lamb kofta with onions and green peppers marinated in a herb garlic sauce.

Seafood lovers will relish dishes such as grilled Mediterranean king prawns marinated in olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and herbs; and grilled whole sea bass topped with a flavourful tomato sauce mixed with leek, dill, fresh coriander, garlic and chilli. A variety of set menus gives diners other options.

The dessert selection is equally tempting with choices of mehalabia, a traditional Egyptian dish made from cornflower, milk, eggs, fresh strawberry and topped with whipped cream; or the Tunisian favourite of masfouf, which combines steamed fine couscous with sugar, pomegranate and topped with nuts and cinnamon.

The drinks list offers a wide range of cocktails and shooters, white and red wines, beers and spirits to perfectly complement your meal.

Close to the river on the Eton side of Windsor Bridge, Gilbey's Bar & Restaurant is located between the historic buildings of Eton College and Windsor Castle. The light and airy restaurant and conservatory lead on to a picturesque courtyard garden - a haven of tranquillity for summer dining, yet only a stone's throw from the bustle and excitement of nearby Windsor. This site has now been run continuously by the Gilbey family since 1975. The extensive refurbishment in 2010 saw the addition of a superb Studio Guest Accommodation Suite with rooftop views to Windsor Castle.

They are now spreading their buying net for their wine list much wider by enlisting the help of Tom Gilbey (Bill and Caroline's son), who after fourteen years in the wine trade, has started his own very dynamic wine company - The Vintner. The list changes frequently with exciting new additions from around the world as well as the French classics.

The Modern British 'a la carte' menu, with its emphasis on seasonal ingredients, has been designed by Head Chef Amaury de Oliveira and his talented team. There's a choice of at least seven starters prime among which would be the seared scallops, crab and lemon tian with carpaccio of smoked tuna and fennel chiffonade, or chicken liver parfait with curried chicory chutney, toasted walnut and raisin bread.

The affair with fresh and seasonal ingredients continues with the main courses, resulting in such delicious fare as roast Barbary duck breast with butternut and potato gratin, cavolo nero and candied orange; 7oz sirloin steak with green peppercorn sauce, chips and rocket, and tomato fondue tarte tatin with crème fraîche and basil mousse and melted gorgonzola.

The dessert list is very appealing, featuring such delectable confections as a lemon tart with vanilla ice cream, or dark chocolate truffle marquise with spiced mango compote and coconut sorbet. If you find more savoury delights tempting, there is a selection of British cheeses served with celery, chutney and biscuits.

In addition to this, there is an excellent value Set Menu available from Monday-Saturday lunchtime and Sunday-Thursday evening from 6.00pm. On Friday and Saturday evenings it is available between 6.00 - 7.00pm. This menu is ideal for a quick bite before a visit to Windsor Theatre, concerts at Eton College or St George's Chapel Windsor Castle and the races at Windsor Racecourse.

Afternoon tea is available in the weekends between 3.30pm - 5.30pm on Saturday, and on Sundays at 4pm - 6pm. For those who prefer something savoury there is also their afternoon 'grazing' menu.

Do click on their Website, which always features the up to date menus and pictures of the restaurant and private dining room.

This is also a wonderful venue for private parties both large and small. The upstairs private dining room, which seats a maximum of sixteen, is perfect for both private and corporate entertaining as well as intimate reception parties. The friendly and helpful staff have a great reputation for their caring and organisational skills.

Originally built in 1711 as a coaching inn, The Christopher Hotel Bar and Grill is in the centre of High Street, within easy walking distance of Eton College and the Royal residence of Windsor Castle. Having been recently modernised, it still retains much of its old world charm and is surrounded by art galleries, antique shops, historical buildings, bustling cafes and restaurants.

The kitchen produces simple but delightful classical fare with a modern British twist, while the few Moroccan specialities come as a pleasant surprise. They have an all day menu with a range of snacks, as well as full English breakfast and a traditional tea.

Nachos with guacamole salsa, sour cream and melted cheddar or Moroccan lamb and noodle parcels in a filo pastry with chilli sauce are a great way to whet the appetite. For a more filling experience, rib eye steaks, tomato, mushrooms and fries or a bowl of wine steamed mussels and crusty bread could prove to be good choices.

Desserts end proceedings with staples such as chocolate mousse or apple pie. You could unwind with a real ale or choose from a list of wines and cocktails. They also have thirty-three well-appointed bedrooms for guests wishing to stay over.
