Chances are that if you visit any of the three venues of Mission Mexican Grill in Oxford and Reading, you will come across some of the best burritos outside San Francisco. The Californian interpretation of this remarkable Mexican dish has become renowned and it's easy to see why, particularly at this group of restaurants. Cheerful and friendly staff and a host of expert burrito makers who entertain as they roll up your meal deftly help create an easy and informal atmosphere.

With a mission to simply serve food that has not seen the face of a microwave, a freezer or a tin opener, the restaurant concentrates on serving burritos of large flour tortillas, rice, black beans, grilled meat, salsa, romaine lettuce and cheese or sour cream; fajita burritos with sautéed peppers and onion; tacos and bowls of salad. Mexican beer and soft drinks take the edge off the spicy food while still making you reach out for one more bite.

With starters such as grilled Egyptian butterflied prawns; mushrooms stuffed with cheese, saffron and breadcrumbs; mussels in garlic; and baked herb bread, there is something to satisfy everyone.

For the main event house specials of lamb shank, onion, cinnamon, cloves and figs are served with pilau rice, and swordfish is grilled and covered in a spicy North African charmoula marinade of tomato, olives, lime juice and served on vegetable cous cous. Pizzas and pasta remind you that Italy is definitely not forgotten on the menu.

La Fontana hosts special themed nights featuring live entertainment and exciting flavours of the Mediterranean, every Friday and Saturday.

Trunkwell specialises in holding functions, and very well it does them, from smaller corporate events through to full blown weddings; these are held outside in the Langans Marquee - linked to the famous Langans Brasserie in London's Mayfair - holding substantial numbers, up to two hundred guests, at a time. Trunkwell was originally built in 1878 for a successful local business family. In 1937 it was bought for 5000 guineas by the Udall family who lived in the house until 1966. It was then run as a restaurant by various people until 1990 when the current owner, Bob Walton, bought the house. Much time and money has since been spent restoring the Victorian house and gardens to their former glory.

The inside dining room is used mainly for private dining, and they are happy to book that out for parties of between ten and firty four for a seated meal. Their inventive British cuisine is the sort of food that you can feel comfortable with, a typical meal could consist of: Mediterranean fish soup; eggs benedict; king prawns in garlic butter; bang bang chicken - smoked breast of chicken coated in peanut sauce or terrine of foie gras, foie gras layered and infused with armagnac and served with jellied sauternes to start.

This could be followed by: grilled tuna steak with watermelon and mango salsa; cannon of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and redcurrant jus or loin of venison with chestnuts figs and juniper scented jus. But leave room for their classic puddings - choose from flambéed crepes Suzette, crème brûlée with raspberries, blackberry and apple crumble, steamed syrup sponge and custard to a duo of Belgian chocolate mousse. Their extensive a la carte menu and well stocked wine list can cater for every occasion.

Trunkwell also specialises in off-site business meetings, multi-activity days, team building, seminars, training sessions and full conferences. All catering requirements are provided from breakfast meetings, lunches, afternoon tea and dinner.
