Avenue Restaurant at The Lainston House Hotel
Lainston House is a charming 17th century William and Mary country house that has been turned into a luxurious hotel, all situated in the beautiful setting of 63 acres of Hampshire parkland. You can feel yourself start to relax as you wend you way up the winding drive and first glimpse the hotel.

A popular town-house bistro in the centre of Winchester that clearly strikes a note with locals and visitors alike. They make no pretensions to be anything but a reliable provider of good, honest food served efficiently in a place which buzzes with atmosphere and is by no means over-louche.

Chesil Rectory, The
Apart from the food, The Chesil Rectory's other claim to fame is to be the oldest house in Winchester - an assertion that is not hard to believe looking at the constructional features - beamed dining areas and candlelit tables that provide a beautiful setting.

Greyhound Inn at Stockbridge, The
Stockbridge, reputed to be the Holy Grail of those who fish on god's own river, the Test, harbours a number of other distractions amongst which The Greyhound is by no means the least. However, one has the distinct feeling that the level of gastronomy is pitched more towards the informal London weekend crowd than your humble disciples of Isaac Walton.
