The carpaccio of smoked duck, tranche of marinated foie gras, warm foie gras bon bon and port reduction demonstrates an ability to produce interesting and inventive dishes, whilst the dark chocolate marquise with Kirsh cherries has them wishing, if not asking, for more.

There is no compromising on the wine list - there are French wines or the rest; prices start at £13.95 and eight wines are available by the glass from £3.75. Chapter One picked up the 'AA Restaurant of the Year Award' for England in 2004, and holds 4 AA rosettes, of which there less than 20 in the country.
