The Bull Inn, situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, is a 16th century inn with an abundance of character features, but the comfort aspect has not been forgotten. With a bar, lounge, restaurant and four ensuite bedrooms, the Bull offers a lovely country pub experience for guests.

Bar nibbles include homemade fish cakes, cod and chips and chilli con carne, while beer enthusiasts may find solace at the sight some of the well-kept ales including the highly regarded Bull Inn Bitter.

The restaurant menu is slightly more formal, which might include starters of Parmesan basket filled with goats' cheese, red chard and a raspberry coulis; or the black pudding, crispy bacon and poached egg on a bed of leaves. Main courses could feature rack of lamb with a honey and mint sauce and half a roast pheasant on a bed of mashed potato, with a red wine and shallot sauce.

The Bell is a stylish 18th century hotel in the heart of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and situated in the centre of Charlbury, an idyllic little town on the edge of the ancient Wychwood forest, an hour and ten minutes from London Paddington by train, and only 12 minutes from Oxford.

In the summer the patio and gardens are pleasant places to make the most of long sunny days, while in the winter the roaring log fires and comfortable lounge are ideal to enjoy a few drinks with friends. They serve ales, lagers, wheat beer and imaginative but well priced wines.

Whether you're looking for a five-course banquet or light lunch, there's something to please everybody. The seasonal menu includes lobster ravioli, potted brie and king prawn crostini with homemade chilli jam as starters. Mains take in choices such as spatchcock poussin, slow roasted belly of Curbridge pork, and baked aubergine topped with tomato ragout.

The Bell welcomes children, dogs and horses - and others - at all times of the year!
