Then one day I decided to put my prejudices to the test, walked into Oxford Ask! and discovered that I could not have been more mistaken.

Bill's - Lewes

If ever there was a celebration of food, Bill's Produce Store has to be it. They offer a wonderful shopping and eating environment, incorporating a cafe, fresh and organic fruit and vegetables, herbs, flowers, plants, hampers and groceries, with a major commitment to local producers and farmers, as well as an outside catering and delivery service all under one roof.

Guido's

The restaurant is called Guido's after Guido Fawkes (more commonly known as Guy Fawkes), as the town of Lewes is famous for its annual bonfire night celebrations. Guido's seats 50 people in the main restaurant area, and also has a mezzanine cocktail area, which, although spacious, has an intimate, cosy feel.

Restaurant at Newick Park Hotel

Newick is renowned for producing much of its own produce, a good deal of it organic. For what cannot be found on the estate the net may have to be cast a little wider. A peaceful and beautiful 17th century manor house, in which the family of the poet Shelley once lived, and ideally located for anyone wishing to 'do' this outstanding part of Sussex whilst living well at the same time.
