Angel Inn

I was always under the impression that stern Welsh religion, as practised in many a Salem chapel, and angels, did not make theological harmony, but I could be wrong. Certainly the Angel Inn in Salem ministers to the needs not only of the village of that name but an also an ever increasing flock from further afield, fired up by the simple but judiciously selected lunches.

  • Address: Salem, Llandeilo, SA19 7LY (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Modern British
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £24.00, Dinner: £35.00

Angel Inn and Capel Bach Bistro, The

A wonderful Welsh medley of a hotel, former chapel and bags of atmosphere of that uniquely Welsh variety; all combining to make this one of the best of its kind in Carmarthenshire, even though the competition is not that extensive.

  • Address: 62 Rhosmaen Street, Llandeilo, SA19 6EN (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Bistro, Modern British, Bar
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £39.00

Brazz, The

The Brazz, situated in Carmarthen Bay in the South of Wales, where the famous beaches Pendine and Cefn Sidan Sands are located, provides an ideal retreat to unwind. A walk along the shoreline, a visit to Caldey Island or the Pembrokeshire National Park will help you to work up an appetite to enjoy the food on offer.

  • Address: Stradey Park Hotel, Furnace, Llanelli, SA15 4HA (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Welsh, Restaurant, Traditional
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £12.00, Dinner: £32.00

Cors Restaurant, The

How often one hears of locally sourced ingredients, but there are, of course, degrees of locality. At Cors it would hardly be possible to go more local and the results are spectacularly good; black beef, saltmarsh-reared lamb and smoked salmon come to mind.

  • Address: Newbridge Road, Laugharne, SA33 4SH (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Modern, Welsh
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £40.00

Falcon Restaurant, The

Book Online

Located in the centre of Carmarthen, the Falcon Hotel should not be judged by its outward face. Pop inside and a whole different world shows up, not least the well-appointed two AA/RAC stars restaurant.

  • Address: Falcon Hotel, Lammas Street, Carmarthen, SA31 3AP (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): British, International, Modern British
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £26.00

Hamiltons Brasserie

A visit to the historic town of Carmarthen is enriched with a stop over at Hamilton's, an enterprise passed down from one generation to another, which provides foodies with a reason to rejoice at its unique brand of food and hospitality.

  • Address: 11-12 Queen Street, Carmarthen, SA31 1JP (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Welsh, Brasserie
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £20.00, Dinner: £25.00

  • Address: East Marsh, Laugharne, SA33 4RS (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Modern
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £47.00

Jabajak Country Retreat

The restaurant complex was originally a stone built carriage house, stable, grain store and milking parlour dating back over 100 years; this forms a courtyard, which was used by local farmers to shoe their cattle on the way to the markets of London! It even boasts its own traditional well and raised Koi pond.

  • Address: Banc Y Llain, Llanboidy Road, Whitland, SA34 0ED (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): British, Modern British, Welsh
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £15.00, Dinner: £33.00

Quayside Brasserie, The

  • Address: Coracle Way, Carmarthen, SA31 3JP (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): French, Brasserie
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: N/A

Restaurant at Ty Mawr Country Hotel

Deep in rural Wales Ty Mawr offers a taste of old Wales, yet is only 30 minutes or so from Carmarthen. Other tastes of Wales make themselves welcome in the dining room of this ancient house and starters might consist of locally smoked Shetland salmon with king prawns and horseradish or a duck and port pate served with cranberry and warm wholemeal toast, followed by a sorbet of passion fruit not ungenerously splashed with vodka.

  • Address: Brechfa, Carmarthen, SA32 7RA (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Modern British, Organic, Scottish
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £39.00
