Restaurant at Llwyndu Farmhouse Hotel
Llanaber, Barmouth, LL42 1RR [Map]
Llwyndu is a real gem. Set in yet more of the beautiful Welsh countryside, with stunning views and total peace and quiet, this is Peter and Paula Thompson's home in which you are a welcome guest, and its shows at every turn. The very best of local ingredients and produce are employed effectively and with meticulous care. Dinner is a three or two course affair, served in a warm, in every sense, dining room lit by candles and lamps. A typical meal could be broccoli and smoked bacon soup, followed by pork spare-rib chop baked in a treacle and pineapple marinade, finishing with fruit fritters with maple sauce cream and coffee that tastes like the real thing.

Bistro Bermo
6 Church Street, Barmouth, LL42 1EW [Map]
Here's a small, cosy and informal restaurant situated in Church Street, Barmouth's old town, offering country style food. The menu reflects seasonal changes with a strong Welsh influence, using local produce: locally landed fish, salt marsh lamb and Welsh black beef. Bistro Bermo is ideal for meetings, private parties, romantic evenings or a casual meal with friends and family.
With a clear emphasis on freshness, all the food is homemade on the premises even the chips. There are soup, breaded mushrooms, smoked mackerel pate, mussels and king prawns for starters. For mains try lamb, Arthog pork, Welsh black sirloin steak, duck with plum and hoisin sauce, as well as vegetarian options. All main meals are served with a choice of new potatoes, chips or creamy mashed potato, with a good helping of seasonal vegetables. If you have room there is also an extensive list of homemade desserts to suit everyone?s taste.
The drinks menu features carefully chosen wines, Welsh beers, ciders and liqueurs.
