Seafood Cafe

The modern, stylish Seafood Cafe offers a new concept in dining, as each day they have a selection of fresh local fish and shellfish, prime Cornish meats and free-range poultry. You simply make your choice from their refrigerated display cabinets, tell them how you would like it cooked, and then add your choice of sauce, potatoes, salad and vegetables.

  • Address: 45 Fore Street, St Ives, TR26 1HE (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Seafood, Chicken, Steak
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £18.00, Dinner: £32.00

Seafood Restaurant, The

That Padstow is now the culinary mecca of the southwest is very much due to the flair, influence and enthusiasm of the celebrated Rick Stein. The Seafood Restaurant could perhaps be described as the flagship of his operations.

  • Address: Riverside, Padstow, PL28 8BY (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Seafood
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £55.00, Dinner: £73.00

Shipwrights Arms

A carefully preserved village pub, where the owners, the Herberts, have had the wit to realise that you don't change what is not broken, thereby laying claim to what must be one of the most perfect pubs in the country.

  • Address: Helston Village, Helston, TR12 6JX (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): British, International
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £28.00

Smoke House, The

  • Address: Harbourside, Porthleven, TR13 9JS (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Fish & Chip
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £36.00

Sophia's Restaurant

Closed for the 2008 season and will open again at Easter. Whilst admitting that an unexpected night in Penzance, due to the helicopter service to Tresco being grounded, would not be high on my list of priorities, it turned out to be not without its attractions, foremost amongst which was the discovery on the seafront of Sophia's.

  • Address: Folly House, Promenade, Penzance, TR18 4HH (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): British
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: N/A

South Cafe

South Cafe is a relaxed and airy restaurant/cafe/bar that's equally popular with local residents and visitors to Manaccan, a charming picturesque village that lies a mile from the Helford River. It opens at 10.

  • Address: Manaccan, Helston, TR12 6HR (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Modern British, Modern European
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £12.00, Dinner: £30.00

Springer Spaniel

The Springer Spaniel may look like any other unassuming roadside pub, but venture inside this 18th century building and it is immediately evident that this is no ordinary hostelry. The cosy main bar has a two settles fronting a wood-burning stove, comfortable wall benches, rustic tables and a relaxing, chatty atmosphere - no intrusive music or games here (and there's a separate beamed dining-room where booking is essential at weekends).

  • Address: Treburley, nr Launceston, PL15 9NS (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Gastropub
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £15.00, Dinner: £25.00

St Andrews Street Bistro

There is more than a slight association between St Ives and Bohemia, thanks mainly to artistic influences, and now it is extending its influence through the food chain. Chef Proprietor Robert Armstrong serves mainly local food with inspired twists and additions that really pull in the gourmets.

  • Address: 16 St Andrews Street, St Ives, TR26 1AH (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Caribbean, Modern British, Moroccan
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £22.00

St Kew Inn

This splendid inn has been taken over by a former barrister and his wife, who hails from a family with serious experience of running pubs, so between them the landscape is changing and St Kew Inn is gently adapting to the times, a ticklish business that involves keeping everybody contented.

  • Address: St Kew, Bodmin, nr Wadebridge, PL30 3HB (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): British
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £16.00, Dinner: £26.00

St Petroc's Bistro

Yet another branch of the Rick Stein empire, though this time cunningly concealed beneath a good old local name. Alistair Clive has moved from the Seafood Restaurant to take over the kitchen, where seafood reigns, but not exclusively.

  • Address: 4 New Street, Padstow, PL28 8EA (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Bistro
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £28.00, Dinner: £47.00
