Their Clubhouse is open from 11am for light lunches through to 5pm and the Restaurant then takes over the reins at 7pm for dinner. Please note however, that because the hotel is very resident focused, all lunch and dinner reservations must call and book in advance of the date in mind.

This old Inn dating from 1639 has achieved new status and a new owner in the form of Peter de Savary, he of Skobo Castle fame, and a few other places besides. Under his experienced eye it has become once more an important part of the village and offers high class cuisine in very smart but not overpowering surroundings. Head Chef James Brown is skilled at invoking the great classic dishes, using the fine local ingredients and produce.

A wine list put together by the wine buyer for the Tate Gallery group should, if memory serves me well, provide total harmony from the direction of the cellar, whilst musical harmony in the form of jazz trio gives a swing to Sunday lunches, every other week.

Some may see this as a sort of dower house for the nearby Bovey Castle, also transformed by Mr De Savary, and with the degree of luxury offered there it is likely that some potential guests may be more than happy to settle for the White Hart.
