All Bar One - Bristol

The original concept for All Bar One was developed by two enterprising ladies, who wanted a bar ideal for women to have a drink and something to eat without the intimidating confines of a traditional pub.

  • Cuisine(s): Bar
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £25.00

Anthem

International is used here as another word for fusion, which may not be the same thing but describes well what they do at Anthem. The emphasis is vegetarian, with around half the dishes on offer of that persuasion.

  • Cuisine(s): International, Fusion
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £30.00

AQUA Restaurant

At AQUA they offer a choice of eating styles, from the decent value offered by their bar menu to a varied, modern European main menu, commendable wine list and exciting cocktails. Their popular two and three course set price menu provide good venue for lunches and pre-theatre suppers.

  • Cuisine(s): Modern European, Seafood, Bar
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £18.00, Dinner: £29.00

Arnolfini Cafe/Bar

The Arnolfini is housed in an old warehouse, located in the increasingly trendy spot that is Bristol's harbour side area. The Arnolfini building is home to a variety of live dance and music performances and as such attracts a suitably arty crowd.

  • Address: 16 Narrow Quay, Bristol, BS1 4QA (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Bar, Café
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: N/A

ASK - Bristol

For some time I made the mistake of thinking that no group of restaurants in the region of 200 locations could hope to maintain the quality for which I was looking. Then one day I decided to put my prejudices to the test, walked into Oxford Ask! and discovered that I could not have been more mistaken.

  • Address: 51 Park Street, Clifton, Bristol, BS1 5NT (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Pizza & Pasta
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £22.00

Balti Hut

Housed in a rather bizarre space that's just below street level, the Balti Hut boasts a rather low vaulted ceiling, painted in a very old and outdated colour scheme, even though it has apparently only just been refurbished.

  • Address: 1 Upper Byron Place, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 1JY (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Indian
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: N/A

Beijing Bistro

The Beijing Bistro prides itself on being the first Oriental noodle bar in the heart of the Bristol. It's a modern and minimalist eatery, spread out across a split-level dining area. There are no starters here it's straight into the main course options.

  • Address: 72 Park Street, Bristol, BS1 5JX (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Asian
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £22.00

Bistro at Hotel du Vin - Bristol

We live in a world of conversions and splendid old buildings such as the Bristol Sugar House providing the setting for restaurants such as the Hotel du Vin & Bistro. Probably the greatest strength is the fine wine list, which includes not only predictable (and some quite unpredictable) favourites but also wines from Switzerland, Canada and Greece.

  • Address: The Sugar House, Narrow Lewins Mead, Bristol, BS1 2NU (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): British UK, Modern European
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £25.00, Dinner: £46.00

Boars Head, The

This beautiful 16th century grade II listed inn is located in the picturesque village of Aust just a mile from the old Severn Bridge (M48, J1) and only fifteen minutes from the centre of Bristol.

  • Address: The Main Road, Aust, Bristol, BS35 4AX (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Modern British, Gastropub, Gourmet
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £16.00, Dinner: £26.00

Bocanova

Bocanova instils a lively nudge of South America into the life of Bristol, and chef/proprietor Humberto Benevenuto is not averse to a quick touch of Mediterranean influence infiltrating his pots. The result is a lively blend producing starters such as cream of black beans and flat parsley, garnished with crispy pancetta cream and crostinis, or chicken liver and brandy parfait with a mango salsa, marinated olives, fennel and olives with yoghurt dressing.

  • Address: 90 Colstan Street, Bristol, BS1 5BB (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Mediterranean, South American
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £43.00
