Uncommon Ground - Edgewater

Uncommon Ground is an appropriate name for a restaurant that does more than just food. Located in a greener location than its Wrigleyville sibling, this Edgewater outlet plays host to green room sessions, farmer Fridays and plenty of other green initiatives. What's more? Well, even the wooden products are manufactured using the timber from fallen trees in Jackson Park.

Kick-start the day with some uncommon plates of smoked salmon eggs Benedict or brioche French toast with candied ginger mascarpone and seedling tart cherry compote. The dinner menu could open with starters of artisanal sausage sampler and Korean chili-spiced fried calamari with sesame seeds and fresh mixed greens. Follow this up with main courses of Heartland meats braised brisket or bacon wrapped Midwestern meatloaf. Fish and fowl Fridays are all about Honkers ale battered halibut and chips with a pitcher of Goose Island Honkers ale for two.
